If you want a mobile phone to simply make phone calls, this could be the model for you.

I had become sick and tired of phones pretending to be cameras, computers, mp3 players, and a host of other functions, but seemed to me to be seriously compromised when it came to their primary function - making phone calls!! My previous phone, the Nokia N95, does everything, but the battery struggles to make it through 24 hours before needing a recharge, and I have other gadgets that do all the other functions (like taking pictures) much better.

This Motorola is simple, the battery lasts around 5 days with my usage (which is pretty high), it's slim and easy to carry and very very cheap. It can do SMS text, but if you use this regularly, I wouldn't choose the F3 as the screen doesn't accommodate it very well.

In short, if you want a mobile phone just to make and receive voice calls, this is the handset for you.

Great fun phone - No frills

Great fun phone. It does just what it says on the box - no frills.
Bargain price for a phone that takes calls and texts.
Very clear readout. The scrolling of messages can take a bit of getting use to.
But for an unlocked phone I must say again what a bargain!
Now being used as studio phone for a hospital radio station.
Has to simple to use so anyone can just pick it up with no trouble.

Don't expect an all singing and dancing phone and you will not be disapointed.

This has to be the mobile phone of the year. Summer's almost here and all of us will be out and about in the glorious English weather with pretty coloured screens on our mobiles that suddenly become useless outdoors. Not this phone. It has a newly developed monochrome screen that is visible in any light, in fact it's even better in bright sunlight. It makes and receives calls and text messages - just what a phone should do. OK, so the text is a bit like a 60's calculator, and it only sends text in lower case, but for those of us who need reading glasses - it's great - I can see it perfectly without any.
All in all a great mobile for anyone who wants a simple no frills phone that you can see. Get one now. Does your ear really benefit from technicolour lighting?

  PERFECT!

I have one of these and also a phone with all the gimmicks. I begin my day with the gimmicky phone and end EVERY day with the old reliable. I have had this phone since the time of Moses and it still does today what it always did.
It NEVER lets me down on battery life {and I have NEVER replaced the battery}, and it hides in my pocket with complete ease, which is not something that can be said for all phones of the same functionality. Its not particularly pretty or street wise, but when everyone else's phone has died on a Winter night, and you need a cab from the pub, they'll all be looking in your direction. Simply put, the fewer gimmicks you have on a phone, the longer the battery lasts.
If the talking annoys you when you turn it on - quite simply - DON'T TURN IT OFF! I don't!

This is a perfect little 'easy to use' phone.
No frills, no
games, cameras, etc -just call and receive, set alarms, and have numbers on
speed dial. Large screen, letters, numbers etc, and even a 'talk you through it' helpful voice! My husband is a pensioner, and has had a stroke, and this is a perfect no nonsense phone for him.He has never really bothered with a phone before, but since getting this, has asked me to show him how to text!
Also would be good for a youngsters' first phone -although teenagers do like all the games, camera etc. A very economical, slim, lightweight phone-absolutely delighted with it!

So it only does texting and makes calls (and will wake you up in the morning). What do you expect for a low-cost phone. If you want to take pictures buy a camera - play music, an iPod - organise your life, get married!
Ok, so the talking to you is a bit twee but the big screen is good and the quality of the calls is ok and the speaker phone bit works. Nice and small too.

The F3 is great for people who just want to make quick calls and send the odd text. The display, whilst black and white, is stunning - the viewing angle is incredible as is the contrast. The battery life is also excellent.
The key issues with the phone is the lack of colour screen and MMS. The motofone F3 is also pretty much indistructable.
Great phone if you can cope with the lack of features.

Very basic phone that can text and make calls

If you are looking for an all singing and dancing phone with camera and colour screen the look elsewhere but....

If you are looking for a phone on which you only want to make calls and do the odd text message then this is the phone does that and only that.

The oversize numbers and text is great for those whose sight is not what it used to be.

The only reason for the average score is that the menus which are not intuitive but I'm sure they will get better with use.

Nice looking very slim phone but only black and white screen. Very easy to use but with very few features.
If are used to a colour screen phone you will be dissapointed with this one.
I would suggest that you spend a little bit more money and go for an L2 or and L6 instead.
Good if you just want to talk or text though.

Cheers,

Richard.

This Is as simple as they come,Basic and functional but not obvious when you use it...read the instructions first. Good as a filler while I'm in between phones, I wouldn't recommend it to those that like their phones to cook dinner while they watch telly.

Motofone F3 - Cheap and Cheerful

If you want a phone to talk to people and send/receive texts. And you don't need all the bells whistles and pops plus the price of a fancy phone then this is the phone for you, and me!!! Hey it even talks to you plus a very good hands free facility. It's very slim and light weight and unlike 99.9% of the expensive phones you can read the screen in bright sunlight shining right on it. Of course that is if you happen to be outside for the couple of hours sunlight this summer. :-}
One thing though you can buy it brand new retail on Virgin PAYG for £4.99 if you pay for £10 credit.

the motorola f3 is not a singing and dancing mobile, but it is a !st in technology
with its electronic paper display, which means you can see the display even in bright sunlight, and has just enough backlighting for night .the size is just above credit card size, and battry power lasts longer than any phone on the market.sound is vg from the speaker, not many ring tones though, overall this phone does what it says...Makes calls and not all the bluetooth ,cameras ,mp3 etc:to wear you battery down...marks from 10.......8

  Motorola F3 - Monchrome Magic
Review created: 09/05/09

1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

For people looking for a decent phone for under 20 quids, I think it pretty much does the job. It does not have the best UI, well as a matter of fact the UI is by far the worst possible but then again, this is supposed to be a second phone, so it shouldn't bother anyone a lot.

The best advantage is the battery life. I bought it two days ago, haven;t charged since and the phone shows full battery sign. Granted, I only made a couple of calls, I am quite surprised by it. I am so used to battery hungry phones, I usually charge my phones almost every day.

Its just a cm thick, 80g or so incl battery. That is amazing and it makes it the best secondary phone to use. The monochrome display is quite awesome, in room or day light, even without the back light in the phone, the display is clear ( just lyk in calculators) and for the dark, a very dull but okay kind of back light is emitted.

Overall, If you are looking for a simple secondary phone just to make calls and texts and you are okay with fiddling around with the phone to get used to the UI. This is possibly one of the best options available for under 20quids.

  Long stand by time.
Review created: 03/05/09

I like this phone as I can rely to a long stand by time and call time as others with wap take too much energy to browse the internet and also to retrieve simply gprs radio data even when not in use.
I don't like the absence of a even short menu and being so thin and easy it become more fragile in trouser or tight pocket than other models.
Being costantly online I need another phone only for calls even no text, and this is one of them, a bit cheaper because old but still totally usable.

  nice little phone
Review created: 07/03/09
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The phone was dispatched quickly, and was nrand new as the seller advertised, however the £10.00 credit was not on the phone, and it came without the sim card, AND it was locked to Orange, and not Virgin (the only reason why i bod for it). However the seller was very appologetic, and refunded me the money the same day, which is rare, the phone was returned and will now sit in someones pocket. The pho ne itself sells for £10.00 in any Orange mobile phone shop, and if someone is looking for a very basic, light, neat, reliable phone, with no extras whatsoever, but is very functional, then it is a very good phone. Although dissapointed I cannot fault the seller and deem him honest.

Very good value for money phone, decided to buy one for a second phone (i needed a seperate mobile number for my work) and wanted something small, that represented good value for money.

After searching a few forums for small phones, then searching for them on ebay to see what they were and the prices they went for, i came accross the Motorola F3. It is a very compact phone and i dont even notice it in my pocket. It cost me very little compared to alot of the other 'mini-phones' and it still has a fair few gizmo's on it if you want them.

For me it fits the requirments very well... it is small, robust, and makes phonecalls very clearly, and has a good battery life. Couldnt ask for anything better, especially at the low prices they fetch.

Brill! :-)

I bought this phone as a replacement for my father in laws broken Motorola V220. I picked it primarily because of its apparent ease of use. (He's in his 70's) It took a few goes for him to get the hang of it, more due to age than the phone, Its proving to be a success. It talks you through the menus which is a great help, doesn't have too many features to confuse and looks nice too. Ultimately a very easy phone to use which looks nice and does the job, Fantastic price too!
