The Money Pit (DVD 2003)

This is the money pit a great film . Part of the pleasure is watching the house fulfil your worst expectations, doors come off there hinges, wiring burns up like a gunpowder trail, baths crash through ceilings to the floor below, roofs leak like an overflowing waterfall. You can see it coming, but it still has the delicious anticipation of the slow burn. And it all gets much worse. Director Richard Benjamin has the rare gift of knowing just where the funnybone lies, A Great film you can watch time and time again.

I remember seeing this film on the TV years ago and how much it made me laugh, so I decided to add it to my collection on the grounds that it was a very funny film suitable for the family - which it is. I was surprised then to discover that it is certificated 15, considering the depths of violence, depravity and bad language that frequently pass at 12 or even PG these days. I think a PG would be quite adequate for this film which is a highly humourous adventure into the world of real estate and do-it-yourself - or not! Tom Hanks looks incredibly young and innocent and brilliantly portrays the hapless young lawyer who snaps up a property bargain (or so he thinks) with his sweetheart Shelley Long. Unfortunately, the house is literally in a state of collapse, which it does bit by bit with them in it. Their relationship rapidly follows suit. Of course, the film has a happy ending, which I won't spoil, but if you have never seen The Money Pit before, please watch it - I defy you not to laugh out loud at Hank's reaction when the bathroom floor collapses and when he has a mishap with a rug and a hole in the floor. Enjoy!!

When this film was first released Shelley Long was slightly more famous that Tom Hanks, but how the tables have turned, after starring in the Money Pit, Tom has become a great actor. But the Money Pit is a classic comedy that will always make you laugh, I watched it as a child and now my child loves watching it. It certainly cheers us up on a rainy, or sunny!! afternoon. All the family will enjoy with brilliant comedy.

I love the Film the money pit..! I saw it when I was a kid, I bought it because I wanted my daughters to see it, as I knew they woould love it too..!

This is such a fantastic film one of Tom Hanks best ! As the film goes on you think that it can not get any worser for them but it just keeps coming lol and you will be laughing for sometime.

This is a really entertaining film from Steven Speilburg. Starring (a very young)Tom Hanks, alongside Shelley Long. The film follows the trials and tribulations of a young couple buying a house together, and sharing the highs and lows of its renovation. Laugh a minute!

I love this film its brilliant. i bought it as my fella has never seen it and even though it was made in the eighties its still a classic to this day. So if you've not seen you dont know what your missing my fella laughed from start to finish. but then their's not many spielberg films i dont like and a very young looking tom hanks.

The Money Pit is a great movie, full of laughs and a great performance by Tom Hanks. I first watched this movie as a Kid and loved it so i thought as an adult i would purchase - still just as funny. Highly recommended movie and it would be very at home to anyone who has bought a house to do up - only to fid it costs 3 times as much to get the result!

I purchased this dvd as i have got a copy on video tape and when i saw it on sale as a dvd i was thrilled as i have watched it loads of times and i thoroughly enjoy it every time and dont get fed up watching it and as i wstch it over and over again it is great value for money.It is a very funny family film.Tom hanks is brilliant and it is a good film to whatch on a miserable wet day ,or when you are feeling depressed ,it really cheers you up and you end up with jaw and belly ache with laughing so much!There is no sex ,swearing or violence in the film so that has got to be a bonust too! I find buying from ebay easy ,quick and a lot cheaper than the shops ,and there isnt anything you cant buy,and its fun looking for items you want.I highly recomend it!!!!!!!!!

If you like Tom Hanks and Shelley Long then this is for you, sooo funny you wouldn't believe, some brilliant laugh out load moments and at the end of it so sweet and sentimental, what more could you ask for.

This DVD was an absolute bargain and very enjoyable to watch, extremely funny in parts, if you don't laugh what's wrong with you?

This film is an absolute classic.Tom Hanks at his very best.Funny throughout.The best part of the film, is where everthing starts going wrong with the house they purchased. A must see film for anyone who's just purchased a D.I.Y riddled house.

This film is excellent and a must buy Tom Hanks is supperb, I always think of this film when watching people on Tv buying and doing up there house and things keep going wrong! My best part is of coarse when Tom Hanks sinks into the floor when he stands on a rug upstairs, and his girlfriend walks in the house and you can see him hanging through the ceiling but she cant see him till she goes upstairs. A must must must buy A+++++++

A classic comedy based on an older movie. Tom Hanks and Shelley Long are the couple who buy what seems like a bargain dream house to see the dream fall down around them - literally! There are one or two visual comedy sequences that have me laughing so much I'm crying - notably the one that starts in the kitchen and ends with Hanks laughing at their predicament. Great fun!

i brought this film for my friend as he,s been after the film he said the film is grate but i have never whatched it but im going to borrow film as i would think it would be grate as tom hanks stars in it

This DVD i purchased was a particular one i had seen a few years ago, just browsing through the section, i came across it, bid on it and won, an amazing film. really pleased i found it!!!

We watched this film quite a number of years ago and found it really funny then, however we have recently bought a new house and found ourselves living like Shelley Long and Tom Hanks - I just had to buy it. Watch it - it's great. Long and Hanks buy a house from an old woman who turns out to be a real con artist - anyway the house starts to fall apart - Tom Hanks is hilarious as he falls through staircases, holes in the floor etc etc and Long is also very funny. You have got to buy this film.
