Linkin Park - Minutes To Midnight (Parental Advisory) [PA] (CD 2007)

right this cd is great,
there are many reviews on here where i beleive the ebayer has simply got the cd of limewire, and indeed as is usually the problem with limewire its the wrong band.
A band called tribal ink as posted there songs claiming there linkin park, when they arnt, this band sound like a half hearted linkin park with no screamo in it.
so in my opition the real cd is good, and then grows on you like the plague and gets you addicted!
Chester is back in full screamo, full dj sets and full rap, its great.

This is the worst album you will hear from Linkin Park Unless they make another one. i was a underground and street team member. you can be assured that my subscription has been canceled after hearing this appalling feature. I watched them live on Thursday 3rd of may and it was amazing cos they played their old stuff an the 3 new good songs 'what I've done' 'given up' and 'no more sorrow'. If you like westlife then you'll love this album its slow, peaceful and boring. It's a deep disappointment. I would give it a rating of 3/10 or 1/5 and only because those 3 songs are present. I highly recommend not to buy this album personally now i have it i would not even download for free its that bad. Linkin Park would of been better off if they had released nothing!

I also disagree with people who think this album is "boring". This is an awesome album with some quality tunes.

I recommend you to get it from your local Music Shop (HMV). It will blow you away! Quite literally!

The first time I listened to this album I felt frustrated. I felt like my once rock heroes had, in some way, betrayed me. I wanted to throw it across the room.

It all seemed to strange, and wrong, and un-Linkin Parkish. But I remembered I had paid good money for this, and so I made myself listen to it over the week.

Then I realised I was wrong. This WAS a good album, and I was glad I hadn't given up after two listens. The songs aren't all slow, infact, most of them are well written, brilliant songs. What I needed to realise was that deviating from the original LP records which I adored wasn't a bad thing, it wasn't even a good thing, it was GREAT THING.

"In Pieces" is a masterpiece. This song is easily the best track on the album. "What I've Done" is a sensitive, thoughtful song. The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because of the song "In Between" because really that's just, well, rubbish, "Hands Held High" is a good song, but some of the lyrics are a bit iffy.

What I'm trying to say is DO NOT GIVE UP ON THIS ALBUM IN THE FIRST 5 LISTENS. It takes time to see what a good album this is.

For anyone who expected more of the Hybrid Theory style heavy riffs and turn table antics, expect to be disapointed. Minutes to Midnight reveals a new sound, a raw, stripped back approach to Linkin Park. Fans of their old work may be put off, but Minutes to Midnight is still a great CD. "Given Up" and "No More Sorrow" show a newly ingrained hard rock vein, while "Valentine's Day" and the excellent "Little Things Give you away" expose a deeper, almost tender side to the former nu-metal icons. I recommend that you approach this album with an open mind; that way, it is easier to appreciate Linkin Park's grown up sound.

Such an awesome album. I recommended people who like this kind of music, should go down town and buy it! One word: AWESOME!!!

a brilliant follow up to there last album, a real mixture of angry, sad & up beat songs,they sure havnt lost any of there own style that makes them so individual, definitely recommended espically if you loved the last two albums.

I heard the first single (What I've Done) from this album on TV and I was quite surprised. I was waiting for the rap to kick in, but it never came... like most Linkin Park Fans, this was unusual to me, but you know what? Once the song ended I realized it just didn't need it. Was this a new turn for Linkin Park? I rushed out and got myself a copy of 'Minutes to Midnight' to see.

The band says:

"As the process comes to a close, at the end of a year of dedication, experimentation, and soul-searching, we believe that we've achieved that which we were challenged to realize. This album defines not only what we set out to create, but who we've become as a band."

I think this highlights what this new album is all about. So, expect lyrics to be deeper and more mature than previous albums, expect new sounds and contrasts between rap and rock vocals and allow yourself to be surprised! Evolution after all is the key to any great band's sucess and I think Linkin Park have achieved this with 'Minutes to Midnight'. Well done guys!

If your a linkin park fan avoid buying this album or download it illegally first as it is totally different and it is boring!! Westlife fans step up. They do have 2 heavey songs 'given up' and 'no more sorrow' but they are poorly constructed and no more sorrow sounds out of chesters league in the chorus! If you want it for the hip hop mike only stars on two tracks as an MC abd they also are awful 'worse than fort minor' would you believe!!

But its up to you of coarse personally i would download it illegally if i had a second chance so linkin park get as little money as possible. As they have officially 'sold out.' (meaning changed their style become commercial) The have showed no consideration to their fans.

I also think this is an excellent album, and disagree with it being "boring". It shows a variety, and consists of some chilled out songs, and some heavy. Nice balance.

i dont agree on what has been said, this is perhaps the greatest album linkin park have released, especially great to the song "shadow of the day". hopefully linkin park continue to produce making more songs like this as i love it, i highly reccomend to buy this album as i have done. many thanks. ^-^

linkin park show true maturity and range with this release mixing hard rock with subtlety and truly showing that they have a sound that is unique to them. buy it if you are open minded, a fan or want to know what they are all about, dont if you only like hard rock!

If you are expecting Meteora 2 you will be disappointed. This album sees LP getting a bit more touchy-feely - ballads and guitar solos - some of the songs are even not particularly angry. This said it still has that vintage LP mix and is well worth buying. The difference between this album and their previous instant-smash-hit work is you will have to listen to this one a couple of times to get into it...

I was looking for this album for a long time because is full of wonderfull music, semply the best of the linkin park.

Linkin Park has always given us great sounds over the past years. Their music has sounded very much the save from Hybrid Theory through to Meteora. I did love these albums with a passion, they were excellent. BUT they were very samey. Nothing wrong with that but I think if this album had sounded very much like those then I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much.

This album has come from somewhere else, and I loved it. I have heard some of the songs from Minutes To Midnight remixed in to Hardstyle and Hard Dance and it goes just excellently.

If you want to hear a CD which comes from a lighter side of Nu:metal but still contains originality like no other then this album will be for you.

I would recommend this album to just about anyone who is an alternative music lover. I have got friends from Hip hop / R&B backgrounds that listen and love this album. As well as the normal Rock / Metal people who think that it is just excellent.

One of my favourite albums. It stays in the car with me at all times. 10/10!!

I'm glad I've been asked to write a review about this particular 'purchase', though I cannot comment on what I like, love or dislike about the item as IT WAS NEVER RECEIVED. I paid for it and the seller withdrew his account. Complete rip off. Disgusted. Am following the dispute process but no news yet.

Definatly a grower of an album, nowhere near the level of the previous 2 albums released..
Has a few good tracks on it, inc What I've done but even that annoys me now as its played everywhere by everyman and his dog.

Although i you listen as an album in general not a LP album , its not bad

I found this album to be a lot softer than previous ones. Being a massive fan i expected alot of noise but was slightly disapointed that some of the content was a bit soft having said that i still found the album to be spot on. I bought the album because i love thier music.

Both me & my wife & daughter enjoy listening to Linkin Park; and when we first heard this on a tv programme, we were a very unsure.
However - after listening to it first(thankfully)we were very disapointed in the swearing on 3 tracks.
Apart from that, yes it's not there old style, but they decided to try a slightly different approach.
Still it sound a dam sight better than the J-ZEE album.

All in all it isn't a bad album, certanly not there worst(see above!)

Now that i have edited it & lost 1 track completley, we enjoy listening to it.

I love the way they have mixed rap/pop/metal/rock all into a perfectly blended album, I got this based on the previous album and was not dissapointed

this is a brilliant album from the most brilliant band. they have come a long way to make their best album yet, all credit to them!!
i can agree that there is a bit more swearing in this album compared to the last few, but nevertheless, it is a brilliant album i recomended all my friends and they have agreed with me that this is a good album to buy, so what are you waiting for? go buy it!
