Mikomi 15LCD250 15 in. TV

Please check carefully before buying from this source. I have still not received the item i ordered.(6 weeks ago). Ihave been given all sorts of lame reasons for late delivery.

First of all, allow me to apologise for the terribly bad title of this review, I suppose I'm not always so go on instant improvisation... Nevertheless, I digress.

The Mikomi 15LCD250 TV, Why did I buy it?

The simple fact of the matter is that I had just ordered a Nintendo Wii and I needed a compact TV to use it with that would double as an extra monitor for my computer should I need it. The Mikomi seemed to offer everything I needed at a very reasonable price.

So what's good about it?

Well, The quality of the screen is fine. The images are clear and colours are strong. There doesn't seem to be any problems with latency. No ghosting or image tearing is noticeable.

The integrated speakers function admirably. Producing plenty enough volume without any serious flaws in sound reproduction.

It has plenty of useable IO. It includes SCART, Composite and RF inputs. As well as a VGA connector for your PC. Also included is a sound out in the form of a 3.5mm standard jack.

The styling is simple and relatively appealing. It doesn't look out of place on a desk or on top of a set-top-box/DVD Player.

So that's the good, now what's the bad?

There's very little I can fault this unit on, especially given the pricetag. If there is one complaint I can make it's that the functioning of the sound/headphones out is a little obtuse. Plugging something into that socket just produces sound from both the headphones AND the main speakers. The headphone and the main speaker volumes are managed independantly and the setting for the headphones is buried as deep into the menu system as possible. Annoyingly if you wish to have headphone only output you're forced to either mute the main speakers (leaving a large mute icon on the screen which can be distracting) or thumb the volume all the way down to 0 which is slightly time consuming.

All things duly considered though, this is a very very minor point and one I'll happily overlook. Overall this is a superb little product that does exactly what it says on the box. What more could you ask?

I bought it because I needed a small, slimline TV with a headphone socket at Mum's for when I'm visiting. So I found the cheapest 15" 4:3 LCD TV around at the time as I wouldn't be using very often.

The TV has full auto-tuning and a SCART socket which I use with a freeview box. The reception is great and it has teletext. It's slimline lightweight design also allowed me to fit it in a convenient but tight space without having to balance it on top of two freeview boxes and a DVD player nearby. It also had the ability to easily switch between 4:3 and 16:9 mode with the freeview box. Finally there are plenty of options for getting the TV set up for it's environment.

Being cheap, the picture wasn't that great even after several minutes of adjusting it and it had a few dead pixels. The most annoying thing about it though was the headphone socket. I needed one to listen to it on headphones while at Mum's. However, unlike every other headphone socket on TVs that I've used, it doesn't automatically cut off the TV's speakers. Instead, I have to manually reduce the volume of the TV down to zero then go deep within the menu system to find the seperate volume control for the headphone socket. This also meant that whenever I needed to adjust the volume while wearing headphones, I have to go deep within the menu system again to do so.

There may be applications where having seperate volume controls for the headphone socket and speakers might be a good thing, but for everyday use with headphones it's a pain, especially when the headphone volume control is so hard to access.

In conclusion, If you just want to watch TV and your not too bothered about having a great picture or using headphones, it's OK for the job. Otherwise get something better. (The TV at home is a 19" LCD widescreen Samsung that's way better than this one).

great tv for the price.. works well pic quality is very reasonable for the bedroom, easy to set up and has all the features we needed for the job (scart etc), sound quality is a little tinny, but what do you expect from such tiny speakers, not had any complaints from anyone watching it so I'm happy.. and after over a years use from an identical set we bought, has never given any problems and was second hand when we got it..

I use this telly as a monitor for a karaoke night that I run off my laptop. It has all the inputs I could ask for and is easy to set up. It is reasonably portable and very easy to set up. The slimline remote control is cool and very functional too. I carry mine in a foam lined aluminiuim flight case.

As previously mentioned it has been almost exclusively used to display karaoke lyrics, however on the two occassions I have watched films on it, it has been very capable. Reasonably natural skin tones and only a little smearing in faster action scenes.

It is not the most beautiful piece of design and is not the smallest or lightest in it's class, but it is functional, has plenty of inputs (including s-video) and has a very reasonable screen. For the money you can't go wrong.!!!

For the price this is an excellent little tv. The picture quality was better than what I expected and looks good evan if you are at an angle. We bought ours for our bedroom and it doesnt take up to much room and looks acceptably attractive. You have a good range of output ports to feed into a hifi for better sound or to wear headphones. The remote is tiny and a takes a bit of getting used too. Im happy with ours anyhow.

It is perfectly clean and in perfect working order.It was just what I was looking for and at the right price.

I bought this second set for my bedroom. We have had the exact same model in the kitchen for nearly 2 yrs and are very pleased with it. It is user friendly, easy to set up, so long as you read the book first! The origianl remote got chewed by the puppy, but we had no trouble replacing it with a universal one from Curry's for a tenner.The picture is clear and sharp and the set itself is really compact for a small space. I am just waiting for my other half to fix a TV point in my room and away we go!

Never recieved this item. The seller posted with Parcel Force who then left it outside my house and forged my signature, we were away for the weekend and never saw the item, we assume it was stolen. We are still waiting for a replacement but the seller is not forthcoming.

The purchase is working very well i it was a good buy but a little disappointed with there lack of communication and i was charged £15 from seller when collected in person. One further note to mention the television only lasted 6 months...
