Miele S7580 Bagged Upright Vacuum

Shortlisted Sebo B36, Lindhaus 380 and Dyson DC07, ended up buying the Miele S7580 to replace an aging Dyson DC01 Absolute. Straight out of the box, be careful assembling the handle, the power connector is inside and did not mate properly and its not easy to get it apart to sort it out. Next thing you must be aware of - this is a not a lightweight machine. Its taller and heavier than the Dyson DC01. Using it is easy, the front castors are great, the twisting action is brilliant and even considering its size it is easy to manouvre in tight spaces. The cable length is great and the ability to stop the brush rotating means vacuuming hard floors works well without blowing dust everywhere like the old Dyson. The LED light on the front is suprisingly effective even though it looks like a gimmic. The extension hose works well on the stairs with the clever clip down design of the pipe stopping the machine from tipping over. In typical German engineering fashion the hose clip is stiff to clip down and then back up again and feels like the clip will break off but never does. The extending handle on the flexible hose works well and the rotating brush tool that comes with the S7580 is great for stairs. Far quieter than the Dyson and much more suction available which is electronically controlled. The HEPA filter seems to work well and the bag is easy to fit and remove. Apart from the handle power connector design and the weight it is an excellent machine. Not sure yet about running costs the cheapest place to buy genuine Miele replacement bags was directly from Miele website as they were not charging postage. As with all Miele appliances they are not cheap to buy, but once you commit you will realise why and probably will have no regrets in spending the extra.
