More reliable than the Xbox 360, cheaper than the PS2 (not to mention the rip off PS3), more playable than the Wii (well, it is once you realise the Wii's games are all a bit childish!) and with an immense back catalog of games available for little or nothing via Ebay or games stores, the Xbox is a great machine that reminds me of the playability I got from my old SNES with the added benefit of being a top notch DVD player as well (with the remote control sold separately). It also has Xbox Live which is still a major part of the Xbox's appeal.

If you can get one at a good price, I would advise you to part with your money gladly and play some great games on a budget. Of course, 99.9% of Xbox owners will upgrade to a 360 eventually, and luckily you can play a majority of original xbox games on a 360 if you have a hard drive installed on it.

The Xbox comes with three basis components, the DVD drive, the hard disk and the motherboard. Samsung dvd drives seem to be the best, and they seem to come with the version 1.6 motherboard as standard (you need to understand the serial number to determine the version number).
Bad point: If the hard disk breaks (error 21) then you must renew the motherboard with the hard disk as a combo (because they are configured during manufacture to recognize only each other, not individual replacements). Also, there is no easy way to get all your saved game configurations off this hard disk on failure.
Version 1.6 motherboards are now really hard to come by.
If you use EBay for buying an XBOX (not 360) spares of repair, be sure to ask exactly what went wrong and what the error code was on the screen. That will give you a good idea of what needs replacing (search for "llama" and "xbox" on Google for more info).
I got my XBOX fixed by buying one that was being sold for spares or repair. I knew the dvd drive wasn't working on it, but the motherboard and hard disk were fine. So I've used my old dvd drive on it and now it's all working. And all for under £13 including p&p !!!!

The Xbox works but a few of the games are scratched and i cant play them, Also i didnt get one of the games that was in the post so that was annoying. The steering wheel is just crap u cant actually steer with it really cuz it just falls over when you do. anyway thats enough of my moaning i just wanted to get rid of that write a review thing that was annoying me on my Ebay page.

excelent game console, i bought it with some games, i stil descover something new every time i play...

as described, item arrived boxed well. Great game for the kids (ages 14,12,10 & 41!), who have now spent hours playing on the games etc. Its good for all age ranges and extra games to match everyone can be bought quite cheaply. Decided to buy it due to pressure from kids and summer holidays fast approaching. We have a playstation 1 & 2 and this is comparible with PS2 not quite in the league of the WII but for the money outstanding value. Great second hand option for a games console. If purchasing again I would look for a couple of extra controllers to allow multi player games.

Bought as supose to be working, had to repair to get to work, I would`ve returned it but Purchased for my grandsons b`day and couldn`t contact seller even by phone, no time.So there you have it, otherwise working as it should now.
