What can I say about this album, but WOW!!!!! Metallica back at there best. Best album since ...And Justice For All. Brings back memories of the old days, strong guitar riffs like on Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. Drums to make your ears bleed, Robert Trujillo showing that he is a top bass dude although Jason is still numero uno. Best track The Day That Never Comes. The boys are back at there best thankfully !!!!!!!

This is how Metallica should sound. I went off Metallica after they brought out Load and not much inspired me after that, I know bands go through changes though the years, but is nice to see that metallica is going back to the sound they had in the early years. This album has not been out of my cd player for weeks. highly recommended if you like the early metallica Enjoy!! you won't be dissapointed, unless if you like Mcfly or something like that.

Very good - Metallica are back!

What can I say - this is an awesome album.

I'm a big Metallica fan, and have most of their albums and have been to see them live before. Death Magnetic just about lives up to the hype. I liked most of the tracks on this album. If you liked their old stuff (and best stuff) then this has some of their old style which is good.

My favourites were - Cyanide, Unforgiven III, The Day that never comes and All nightmare long

The only thing I can complain about is most of the songs are too long, I'd like a few shorter ones. This isn't all a bad thing, but sometimes I think they drag on a bit if I wanted a quick listen.

This is overall a great album - I'd reccomend it if you like Metallica at all. And its normally under £9

Absolutely Amazing is the best two words for this album! Pure brutal metallica at their best level for a long time. Jayme'z lyrics/vocals are the best yet and combined with the powerforce of metallica you have a recipe for pure brilliance. You get alot of melodic/heavy mixes in this album which is what I like and a little reminder of the older music is intergrated into alot of the tracks of this album.

I think this is an album that will not let you down and I strongly suggest if you want to add a new album to your collection this is one of the best!

Buy it you know ya wan't to!

  One Hot Album
Review created: 06/10/09

Lets start this review from the BLACK Album, here we have one superb hot ablum to date, yet we find Metallica dropping down in to the dark blackness; deeper and deeper they go, until out pops the album "St. Unger" with a scream like a banshee from hell - shouting 'Yes we've lost our direction, we've come to the end of the line.' They had, for this album was so poor, it made those that had followed on from the success of BLACK, seem insignificant in many ways.
But hope was not lost to that of Hetfield and Ulrich, from out of the darkness sprung this new album "Death Magnetic" with a roar that was full of raw metal power. This album follows in the lines of Master of Puppets and BLACK. It has the same rough edgeness that has seen Metallica become one of Metals well liked bands.
Lets hope the boys have managed to find there way back from the darkness, and that in the future, we will be seeing them go back to their soul roots with manymore albums that are to follow in the pacey headiness of "Death Magnetic".

Just a proper Metallica album, back to the old ways with an increasing hammering metal blast through the play list...it doesn't stop until the end.

Thank god it's not like St. Anger!
Review created: 05/02/09

Metallica are back! As in Metallica are back playing the music that made them great! This is a very, VERY good record. It's still not in the league of the the great triumvirate of Metallica's output (Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets and ...And Justice For All) but it is SO superior to their later work (Load, Reload, St. Anger...) that you really can't believe it's the same band.

All right, so there are still some poppier hooks on there (the chorus to All Nightmare Long for example) but in the main it's the abrasive, inflammatory thrashy metal that all old time Metallica fans will will love. There's great solos from Kirk Hammett, some superb bass from Rob Truilljo and Lars has remembered what the other bass drum pedal is for... It's fast, it's aggressive and most of all it's METAL! My only problem is Hetfield's singing. Ever since he took singing lessons for the recording of the black album he seems to have lost the manic edge on his voice that was so much a part of Metallica's truly extraordinary records. Don't get me wrong, he can rock up a storm, but his improved technique robs some of the excitement from the music.

Apart from that, though it's a massively good, heavy record from the godfathers of modern metal. Buy it and increase the legend.

  Death Magnetic
Review created: 06/01/09
by:

This is Metallica's latest album release after St Anger. In every way Death Magnetic is an improvement on their previous album which stuttered and staggered with nervousness (no wonder, the whole band was near to meltdown at the time (for which see the DVD, Some Kind of Monster)). This one pulses and vibrates with originality in the old vein that marks them supreme in the realms of their genre. Even a couple of ballads thrown in give it a welcome variety, mixing the heavy with the pensive. Good on ya, mates.

  METALLICA ARE BACK ON FORM
Review created: 16/11/08(updated 16/11/08)

This album really is the old metallica we all knew and loved back from the brink. A lot of people were very dissapointed with St.Anger, I personally liked some of the tracks but the fact of the matter us whether you liked St.Anger or not this album is awesome. If you like metallica's early stuff you really need to get this album, it is awesome don't let albums such as St.Anger or load stop you getting this album if you wasn't amazed by them because that is what I did, I did not buy on release date because I wasnt too sure if it would be any good and I just delayed the purchase but when I finally bought and listened I was over the moon, long long heavy deep tracks, now if that isn't metallica back at their best I don't know what is. Oh the sweet sweet sound of those awesome drums and guitar riffs.

If you are considering buying this because you really liked Vertigo or Load (my two favorites) then I would say in my opinion you are in for a bit of disappointment. I've listened to it 3 times and can't bring myself to listen again. It's not even one of those CD's that will grow on me after a while. Sorry Metallica!

The boys are back! To be honest I have had my doubt since Justice. Definitely the greatest live band in the world however The Black Album, Load, Re-load and St Anger just did not compliment the band. One could queston the the input of Bob Rock. But as one previous comment stated, you listen to all track without the need to skip the duds.

A big well done to Metallica! Its a tribute us as fans and to all lovers of heavy music. A must for any CD collection.

This is a much improved album by the best rock metal band in the business. It's far superior to 'St. Anger' and is a sign that these guys are back to their very best and have recaptured the sound which propelled them to greatness 20 plus years ago.
