I love Kevin Costner. He is so diverse an actor and plays such varied roles. This is a real romantic film, one for the girls night in with a bottle of wine, but be prepared girls, tissues at hand......

we decided to buy because it was on tv and we missed the last 15 mins approx
so we needed to see the end.

MY FRIEND ASKED ME TO GET HER THIS FILM AS SHE HAD READ THE BOOK WHILE ON HOLIDAY AND THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD. SHE NOW HAS THE DVD AND SHE IS WATCHING IT ALL THE TIME AND CANT DRAG HERSELF AWAY. SHE SAID ITS AN EXCELLENT FILM WITH A LOVELY STORY. A MUST FOR EVERYONE TO SEE

I love a good love story, and this was one of the very best I've seen. But it had a rather sad ending. In all good love stories (and fairy tales), couples are supposed to "live happily ever after". In this case it didn't happen, but it was a fascinating study of human relationships and the meaning of true love. Pity about the sad ending though! It changes your whole philosophy on life, and shows that you should grab happiness with both hands while you can, and live for the moment. The last lines of Nat King Cole's song "For All We Know" are "Tomorrow was made for some.....Tomorrow may never come.......For all we know". So if you're in love, then think about it ! Think really hard, and live for the moment ! I speak from experience. The love of my life died in 1978, and thirty one years later, I still haven't got over it. For me tomorrow never came !

Decided to buy my own copy of this film because i just love it....it makes me become a quivering wreck every time i watch it.. one of the best weepies out...

A Boat builder name of Garret Blake (KEVIN COSTNER) has lost his wife Catherine, Garrets world has died also , so in despair he writes a letter and puts this in a bottle,and then into the Sea for his dead wife, This turns up on a city beach where a lonely woman THERESA (ROBIN WRIGHT PENN)who lives with her son JASON (JESSE JAMES) is jogging one morning,she comes across a message in a bottle. A Media Mystery is greated about it when THERESA takes it into work and starts to track the guy down who wrote it ,. This is a old fashioned love story which reminds me a little of the film /book Wuthering Heights.)Heathcliff/ catherine,. if you love these sorts of films or have lost someone who you truly loved,then this film will deeply connect with you,. The music score is good ,the sunset and romantic Sea scenes are very good. PAUL NEWMAN) plays Dodge, Garret Blakes Father and ROBBIE COLTRANE plays CHARLIE) THERESA`S Boss There is one more final letter, CATHERINE wrote her own message and Prayer,A amazing letter,. A truely underated gifted film,.light the fire ,get youself a nice cold drink and ,enjoy"................................................

Message in a bottle is a real old fashioned love story.
A male throws a message in a bottle into the sea for his dead wife.
This tunrs up on a city beach, and a media mystery is created about it. A female journalist traces him (bit like Sleepless in Seattle). You are kept in the dark about Kevin Costners character for a while, not knowing if he is a baddie, or goodie.
The film has a dramatic ending.
Another one to watch with your partner one evening.

Bought this film as I like Kevin Costner. Had never seen him in a tear jerker before. I loveed every minute of the film and dwould recomend it to anybody.

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. The film is a classic romantic film and ideal to sit back and enjoy

I liked the speed of the delivery of the DVD and was very pleased with the way the item was packaged, in a jiffy bag. The quality of the DVC is excellent and I have already watched this DVD and fully enjoyed it as much as when I first saw it.

sad and very moving film which was acted very well. romantic but hard hitting where it is meant to be.

Whilst recovering from an operation I read the book of the same name, Message in a Bottle. I loved the book so much that I just had to watch the film.
I bought the film knowing that it had a very sad ending. Being in a rather fragile state myself I knew that it would upset me but nevertheless I really enjoyed the film. Quite a few things were changed or omitted from the book. However, I expected this and was pleased that I read the book before I watched the film and not the other way round. This is a lovely, sensitively written romantic story.
