Ante up for laughter and action aplenty! Mel Gibson is sly gambler Bret Maverick, Jodie Foster is a charming scam artist and James Garner is a laid back lawman in Maverick, the crowd-pleasing hit that deals you a winning hand.

great film for all the familylove this film.. seen it so many times but still laugh every time. The film has everything you might want for a good night in with a film and a take away.recommended to anyone of any age...and Mel gibson is just great in anything..

i love this film and so does my partner he has been looking for absolutely ages for this but always found that the price was so unreasonable, but this was perfect never thought i would find it on e-bay at such a great price i can asure you it was worth waiting for brill!!!!

If you like the classic western comedies, such as Little Big Man, Support Your Local Sheriff, or the more recent Shanghai Noon, you should enjoy this romp through the gambling scene of the Old West. Mel Gibson Takes on James Garner's original role of Maverick from the TV series and Garner himself takes on the role of his father, the crooked sheriff. Jodie Foster takes on the role of Maverick's pretty but clever antagonist and love interest, while bar room fights and high stakes poker games erupt around them, with Alfred Molina's baddie, Angel, giving a suitably menacing performance. James Coburn also delivers a good role as the suitably dishonest riverboat captain, playing host to the biggest poker game of all. The plot has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing, and cameo performances abound in this film, with Graham Greene, Denver Pyle, Danny Glover and Doug McClure to name a few.
A brilliant witty romp, that will stand the test of time as on of the classic Western comedies - Excellent.

Another funny mel gibson movie.......Its a western with a touch of class.There is no big shoot out scenes and its not like any other western I have seen.....I would recommend it to any one with a sense of humour.....Give it a go as its a good clean family movie.....Great for the kids...

Funny,brilliant,with all the actors seeming to enjoy themselves playing cowboys.It's even better to see Danny Glover as the bank robber and Grame Greene as the Indian chief doing a deal with Maverick .There are so many funny scenes you have got to see the movie.I bought because I remember the old t.v. show with James Garner,Jack Kelley and Roger Moore.
