  More Special Effects than Ever

Wow, the special effects in this movie are some of the best I've ever seen!! The freeway pursuit scene is amazing and brilliant--it looks so real and I believe part of it was actually done in real life as well. That one action sequence alone is a reason to purchase The Matrix Reloaded in my opinion--it's superb. The movie is packed full of stunning (and I mean stunning!) visuals, a creative plotline, great acting and thoughtful introspection. DEFINITIVE--better than the other two (I think). I just can't get over how amazing the freeway chase scene is, from car leaping to the semis colliding. Amazing. How much of the film is actually not computerised?

Matrix reloaded is a brilliant film. I'm hearing alot of bad reports about it and its pi***ng me off because its a brilliant film. The film is about NEO (Keanu Reeves) must complete the prophecy that Morpheus (Lawrence Fishburne) believes in to save the world. The effects, martial arts, action and stunt scenes in this film are amazing. Whenever he has to fight all the agent smiths is a pretty cool scene. Whenever the film starts off with trinity jumping off a bike in mid air and sending the bike into a security hut and then the security hut explodes the film has you completely hooked!

The freeway scene in this film has you absolutely gob smacked! Whenever neo has to talk to the architect this part of the film is a real brain teaser. The explosions in this film are quality. I think that reloaded is as good as the first film. A lot of people would disagree with me because alot of people I know that have seen this either don't like it or just thinks its ok. Well I think its brilliant and I definitely recommend it.

  The Matrix Reloaded

The original matrix movie was superb, and still to this day remains one of the most copied and homaged films. The bullet time breakthrough stamped the movie with an original tag unlike any other, but i guess i really felt it ended on a good note, and that was that. When i heard about Reloaded and then, the final part of the trilogy Revolutions, I was ecstatic. Reloaded not only continues the story of Neo but raises up some interesting new questions - not least is Neo's ability to defeat the Sentinels outside of the Matrix...and what of the previous versions of the Matrix itself? And can Neo prove his dream about Trinity wrong?
A great sequel, and sets up part 3 perfectly at the end. Who CAN'T love seeing Neo kickig the arse of 100 Agent Smiths? Or Morpheus' battle atop a runaway truck? Or Trinity looking hot in black leather doing 200 mph on a motorbike being chased by agents......?
The Matrix could have ended after the first movie - but this film takes everything up a notch, if a little too wordy at times...

  The Matrix Reloaded
Review created: 27/10/05

Neo, Trinity, Morpheus. These iconic names have arguably become as famous as all the other folk named with solitary words: Madonna, Ronaldo, Yoda. The Matrix has been nothing short of a landmark achievement; its techno-oriented visions and mind-boggling ideas armed the computer-obsessed nuts with a whole new trendy subculture and our contemporary philosophical thinkers with stuff to talk about.

Shortly after the events of the first Matrix, the crew of the Nebuchadnezzar arrive at the hallowed last human city of Zion, where it is discovered that a frickin’ huge Sentinel army is burrowing down from the surface to wipe them all out. Not fancying their chances very much, Morpheus (Fishburne) believes that the now godlike Neo (Reeves) is Zion’s only hope for survival, and leads his compatriots back into the Matrix to destroy the machine mainframe and end the war once and for all. Its here that the film takes an interesting twist and ends on a frankly evil cliffhanger, which should have all but the sturdy of us crying out for the final part of the trilogy.

There is a scene in the first Matrix film where Neo has various kung fu programmes downloaded into his mind, and is then asked by the operator, Tank, whether he wants some more. “Hell yeah,” is the reply. And that is precisely what the Wachowski brothers have done for us in Reloaded after the initial intoxicating dose of the Matrix. Following the trip to Zion, we are saturated with gorgeous action sequences, from Neo battling a hundred odd replicas of the insidious Agent Smith (Weaving), to the spectacular chase on the freeway guaranteed to blow you away. Just as the first film astounded us with those sweet bullet-time effects, this flick is as equally advanced, with the camera capturing the dizzying action in totally innovative ways. Fans of the Hong Kong chop-socky martial arts will also be delighted here as fight choreographer Yuen Woo-Ping raises the bar (and those wires) even higher, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon style.

That said, this film is just as cerebral in content as its predecessor, where much of the philosophy of the Matrix is revealed. Ideas of causality, fate and existence are all touched upon at a head spinning speed that can lead to some confusion should inadequate attention be paid.

The minor faults lie in the drawn out and slightly unnecessary rave scene in Zion, as well as Reeves’ somewhat dubious acting which, fortunate for him, is somewhat covered up and glossed over by the film, in a manner similar to the first movie.

You simply have to watch Reloaded. You’ll then want to catch it again, to marvel once more at the stunning sumptuousness and style of the set pieces, and to make full sense of the dialogue and profound narrative that sometimes moves as fast as the action. This is groundbreaking, monumental, immortal stuff. Hell yeah indeed.

  Part 2 of the Trilogy
Review created: 25/01/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

To begin: this is half a movie. To comment on half of a picture is pretty difficult. Those that dismiss this as another Phantom Menace should sit tight for the conclusion.

Having said that, Reloaded has amazed, enlightened and overwhelmed me. To go through each scene, character & word would take weeks, more then 1000 words and would only interest those few die-hard fans.

The only thing to say is that of my love for the complete trilogy.

It is inevitable.

Can't beat Matrix I, but def. Better then Matrix 3
Review created: 21/01/07
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Story:
Neo (Keanu Reeves), Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) continue their battle against the machines in THE MATRIX RELOADED, the second chapter of Larry and Andy Wachowski's MATRIX trilogy. As RELOADED begins, Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus arrive in Zion with new crew member Link (Harold Perrineau), and discover that 250,000 dreaded sentinels are close to launching a massive attack on the underground haven for the liberated minds of humanity. When Neo seeks advice from the prophetic Oracle (the late Gloria Foster), their meeting leads to a sorely outnumbered fight with Neo's old nemesis, Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving). While the sentinels advance on Zion, various battles within the Matrix continue to escalate, culminating in an extended highway chase sequence involving Morpheus, Trinity, more imposing agents, and two new adversaries--the relentless white-clad Twins (Adrian and Neil Rayment).
With RELOADED, the Wachowski brothers delve deeper into both the realm of the Matrix and the apocalyptic, machine-controlled future reality. Initially giving ample attention to both the romance between Neo and Trinity and to the vast underground city of Zion, the film eventually delivers one stunning set piece after another, with the amazing martial arts sequences and jaw-dropping effects of the first MATRIX elevated to even more astounding heights. In addition to the returning cast of Reeves, Moss, Fishburne, Weaving, and Foster, Perrineau and Jada Pinkett Smith make for welcome new additions, and Monica Bellucci offers up an unforgettably sensual appearance. Larger than the original scale on every level, THE MATRIX RELOADED is a thoroughly entertaining sequel that will leave viewers eager for the trilogy's conclusion, THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS.

Comments:
Can't beat Matrix I, but def. Better then Matrix 3

Purchased this one again because my copy went missing from my box set. You either love or loathe the Matrix trilogy and i love them. Lets face it Mr Reaves is not the greatest of actors but he fit the role of Neo perfectly. As for Carrie playing Trinity....... yummy! The first film was definately the best in my humble opinion with this one a close second, some real good fight scenes and one of the best car chase scenes ever caught on film.

  Mega Disappointment
Review created: 28/11/08
by:

I suppose it wouldn't have be too bad if we hadn't liked the original so much. If the other reviews hadn't said it was so good. But we had, and they did.
The story continues (except I wondered if I'd missed something) by majoring on the lerrrrve interest. Too much for me. Get's involved in incomprehensible politics (again, have we missed something?) - boring. Dreadful, long, long, loud, long party / orgy of half dressed groovies.
Interspersed with Matrix action. Longer, more drawn out, but nothing new. Still amazing - to start with, but my ability to be amazed rapidly ran out. I was bored by the sameness of every fight - unlike in the original matrix. The bike chase was a high point, but apart from that the fights were less adventurous in moves than the original. Just more, and more, and more, slight variations on the basic moves, without much innovation.
In between the filling they did manage some story. It did help clear the confusion and was pretty good in places with a few neat twists. Looking forward to the ending ...
What! No ending, just like a TV serial left in the air ... - To be continued.

It's only a short film at just over 2 hours, but it felt much longer. If Part 3 is the same, there may (perhaps) be enough material for one decent film.
Alternately, you could just watch the fights from the original Matrix - over and over.
I think I may get part 3 - if only so my conscience allows me to flog part two without subjecting the buyer to the vast anoyance at the lack of ending.
Or perhaps I can't be bothered.
And perhaps it would have been OK if we hadn't expected so much - the only reason it scraped an average.
