Not an avid hip hop RnB person, I still remember the first time I heard MJB Da MVP I had to get it, of course the radio stations were playing it long before it was released. Still loving it now, 2 years on this CD only gets better with time.
My favourite track though without doubt is "one" which is a duet with U2, and it knocks the socks off the original, so much so, if the U2 version (which I loved) is on the radio - I feel miffed and let down.
An absolutely amazing vocal talent, and a beautiful voice, quite RnB with a few simply outstanding tracks,
Don't buy it expecting to love the whole album, but if you like skillful harmonies and the hair on the back of your neck standing on end, you will love some of the tracks on this CD.

This is most definatly the best album so far by the Queen of Hip-Hop and RnB Mary J Blige , The album has some of her top hits including 'Be Without You' and the duet with U2 'One'some of my other favourites are Tracks 5,7,8 and 10 which are 'Gonna Breakthrough'feat.Brook 'Take me as i am' 'Baggage'and 'MJB Da MVP' which is a song written by the singer telling the story of her life so far as she mentions some of her past hits in the lyrics.

This album proves that there are still some real quality R&B singers out there....I can play it over and over just like her first couple of albums this is excellent and it contains some absolute gems.
I saw her in concert many years ago and she can really sing so buy this you won't be let down at all.

I haven't purchased any of the Mary J Blige albums released in 90's but after listening to No More Drama and Love & Life, I really think that 'The Breakthrough' is her best album so far in which I've heard.
Standout tracks for me have to be:
'Enough Cryin', the beat is hot and Mary's rap just makes the song.
'Be Without You' - the lead single from the album, I didn't like it at first but it really grew on me, shame it didn't do well in the UK. It would have been big if it wasn't released during the Christmas period
'One' - the brilliant duet with U2 and its waaaaaaaaaay better than the original.
'MJB Da MVP' - samples 'Hate It Or Love It' by The Game, a real hip hop track
Show Love - A bonus track which is really funky and catchy.
But the best track on the album has to be I Found My Everything. Its a really powerful soul song and Mary's vocals are amazing on this track!
Overall, a great albums with many potential singles!

its an ok album, i brought it because i liked her singles 'the one' and 'without you', but the rest of the cd isn't as good as those songs, if i keep listening to it or she releases another song from the album i might get used to it
