Two EPs combined - Violent Silence is brilliant
Review created: 13/01/09(updated 13/01/09)
Contrary to what is suggested by the album notes, this is Violent Silence by Marc Almond (with regular collaborator Annie Hogan, Martin McCarrick, and Billy McGee), combined with 3 tracks (out of 7) from Flesh Volcano by Marc Almond & Foetus (aka Clint Ruin). Other than Almond and the time of production (1984/86), these two EPs don't have much in common. Flesh Volcano must be rare, it's not currently mentioned on the Wikipedia entries for either artist, nor on the official Marc Almond site.
As for the music ... I haven't listened to Foetus since the 80s, and remember them to be something like this, dark and somewhat industrial. The mix isn't generous to the Almond vocals.
Violent Silence, on the other hand, is in my view the best of Marc Almond's solo work, and I'm delighted to finally have found it on CD through ebay. Heartily recommended if you like his other "torch songs".
