Dont read any plot summaries because in words the plot might seem trivial, brain-dead and pointless. The film is excellent, the acting by both Denzel and Dakota (she will go sky high, trust me on that)are just fabulous, and the plot is mind blowing. Actually "fabulous" is a small word to use for such talented actors. The film is just based on actual facts and some characters are not fictional, a fact that adds up to the shock that i was having during and after the film. If you are fond of both actors and of somewhat deranged films, you still haven't watched your favorite one yet...Trust me, in the end you will have a weird and inexplicable feeling. The film is awesome, see it, rent it, buy it or whatever...just don't miss it,thanks for reading

a kidnapping thriller.how many movies have we had based on the kidnapping sceneario. however, man on fire is much more than a simple thriller. it is an emotional movie that is powered to great heights by its outstanding leading man, denzel washington. his performance is a sure career highlight and easily one of his best to date. but there is also another brilliant performance to be had in this film. 10 year old dakota fanning. yes indeed. in the first 40 minutes of this movie you will simply fall in love with pita ramos because of dakotas outstanding performance. she is instantly loveable and right from the off you instantly care about her character. so when the kidnap scene comes it hits you all the harder. and at the end of the movie when fanning runs into washingtons arms and they deliever their lines, if your not close to tears then your a tin man without a heart. in that scene it is particularly hard to believe that dakota fanning is only 10 years old. man on fire also features a strong support cast including christopher walken who is very appealing. all in all this is a great movie with its camera trickery, flash backs, subtitles, mesmerising action and great direction by tony scott. but man on fire is deffinetley carried by its leading stars denzel washington and dakota fanning in their outstanding performances

"Man On Fire" is an explosive action thriller which takes you through hell and back. This is not a "happy" movie, and it's not nice. It's extremely violent at times and the plot is a reflection of a parent's worst nightmare--the kidnapping and possible murder of their child. While it can be super-stylish at times with fancy editing and camera work, it proves to be a more than effective thriller.
I would rate this movie 9 out of 10 .

For once a remake is as good as the original. Denzil Washington is excellent as the washed-up CIA operative who finds a new reason to live when he is befriended by the little girl he has been hired to protect. All hell breaks loose when she is kidnapped and the bodyguard turns into a one-man army. Dakota Fanning is outstanding as the kidnapped child. Must-see for thriller/action fans.

Denzel Washington stars as a government operative/soldier of fortune who has pretty much given up on life. In Mexico City, he reluctantly agrees to take a job to protect a child whose parents are threatened by a wave of kidnappings. He eventually becomes close to the child and their relationship reawakens and rekindles his spirit. When she is abducted, his fiery rage is unleashed on those he feels responsible, and he stops at nothing to save her.
Now what to say about Man On Fire? This is in no uncertain terms an epic film, gauranteed to leave you wanting more, its got everything a revenge classic should have, the perfect ending, perfect perfomances, perfect storyline, you do not want to miss this film, washington is the perfect actor for the lead role, nuff said!

You may be thihnking, "not another kidnapping thriller." But wait - this is unlike any film you have ever seen, it has a completey new layout and this works very well indeed. This film is bound to make you cry with both terror and sadness, true brilliance. Fox Film really have painted their masterpiece here. This is an absolute MUST BUY for anyone who is into these kind of films.

This film is another fantastic one to add to your Denzel collection. Although plot summaries don't give it enough credit, its a seriously good movie. Denzel Washington shows so much emotion. His mood is polarised throughout the film; one minute he's a very quiet bodyguard, very content and reserved. When the young girl goes missing, its the complete opposition - using violence and interrogation to try and find her. The relationship he has with the young girl is extremely special...like he is almost a guardian angel to her, and he doesn't show this care but its evident throughout the film.
It's a film you have to experience!!
Pros:
Lots of action
Gripping storyline
Amazing plot!!
Good cast - the young girl and her mother are exceptional
If you like a bit of pressure and intensity..its got it
Cons:
There is violence but its short scenes and minimal - but strong in essence, therefore not great for the squeamish

A delusional, drunk friend of a friend is assigned to be a bodyguard for a wealthy family, Creasy (Denzel Washington) is assigned to be the bodyguard of mainly Lupita 'Pita' Ramos (Dakota Fanning).
What starts out as a tension filled relationship soon evolves into a heart rending story as love unites a sweet innocent girl to an alcoholic US Navy Seal has been.
Some brilliant acting both from Washington and in particualr Fanning. Great action scenes and a few laughs thrown in for good measure.
A fantastic storyline keeps you entertained throughout and pulls on the emotional heartstrings at the end.
A must see for any film enthusiast.

I saw this when it first came out at the cinema and I'd forgotten how much I liked it.
So I settled in to revisit the film and it was as enjoyable as I remember it.
People are getting kidnapped in Mexico. A couple with a young daughter played by Dakota Fanning hire Creasy (Denzel Washington) to be her bodyguard. When the ransom drop is bodged up, Creasy goes on a rampage of vengeance.
The film is rated 18 but it wasn't the violence that stood out for me but the relationship between the forlorn Creasy and that of the couple's daughter whom he is protecting, which is a delight.
It is a long film, running around 2 hours 20 minutes but doesn't drag on at all.
I highly recommend the film, despite the hokey ending.
