Sleaze 'n' Tease
What an album! I remember playing this to death on vinyl twenty-four (count 'em - TWENTY-FOUR!) years ago when I was but a slip of a lad. These catchy, Alice Cooper- and Ramones-tinted slices of anthemic, teen angst-infused pop metal resembled the best of Twisted Sister and Poison combined - but with REAL GIRLS in the lineup. The fetish outfits and innuendo-laden lyrics topped off an exhilarating thrill-ride through sleaze to satisfy any teenage headbanger's need for (safe and largely inoffensive) rebellion. And you can understand the words, too! None of this has changed in the intervening decades, and it's sobering to think what the world of sleaze metal (and music in general) has lost with the premature demise, after this solitary album and one single, of the minor Colossus that was Madam X. And now I'm playing it to death on CD - take THAT, modern manufactured pop pap!
