  Mad Max fest!
Review created: 17/11/09

This movie box set has to be a modern classic,Mel Gibson at his finest. If you want to escape from reality for a while this is the perfect choice.Fantasy and fun, with a great soundtrack from the legend that is Tina Turner. Its crossed the generation gap in our house, the kids loved it as does my 'big kid'!!

  mad max triple dvd set
Review created: 23/07/09

Although Mad Max is often called a post-apocalyptic movie, it really isn't. It is more precisely a dystopian vision of the future, where civil society is under siege by increasing crime and disorder. The vision of future in Mad Max is in many ways similar to that presented in A Clockwork Orange (1971). Similarly, Mad Max's view of the police as constrained by outdated rules and regulations echoes Dirty Harry (1971) and its sequels. Indeed, unlike A Clockwork Orange which ultimately uses this vision of the future to raise profound questions about the role of government in controlling free will and the tradeoffs involved in such a course, Mad Max, like Dirty Harry makes the more mainstream case for judicial retribution. Or does it? For a low budget movie, Mad Max is surprising challenging in terms of its core philosophy because although our hero does "triumph" in the end, he is also so emotionally wounded as to be dead inside. This is not your typical happy ending.

But people don't watch or remember Mad Max for its social commentary. Mad Max is remembered, rightly, as a great action movie. Director George Miller imbues all the action sequences with a wild, frenetic energy. It is really a case of technique overcoming material limitations. Think of the scene where the biker gang chases down and terrorizes the young couple. There is almost no on-screen violence, but Miller creates a terrifying experience through sound and quick cuts of a car being destroyed.

Mad Max is truly a product of the 1970s -- a time capsule almost of fears about rising crime, collapsing legal systems, and oil shortages. It is also an extremely well made low-budget movie. If it pales compared to The Road Warrior, it does so only by virtue of the latter's larger budget and more intricately choreographed stunts. Mad Max has a visceral energy, especially in its action sequences, that have only been matched in a handful of movies.

Mrs Kirstie Wells.

  Mad Max Trilogy, DVD
Review created: 05/06/09

My son is mad about films about the moment, so eBay is the ideal place to look - get them delivered and they are all reasonable prices. He is absolutely delighted with this trilogy, nothing to complain about at all. I am delighted because of the reasonable price. We try not to spend more than £10 on eBay except in exceptional circumstances. So this suited him as he has an interest in films and obviously suited me as it was delivered and at a good price too.

No road film has even come close to MAD MAX 1 & 2 shame about the third one. For a film originaly filmed on a shoe string budget it beats the hollywood blockbusters hands down, Mel Gibbson was born to play the part of Max, the cars ,well just listen to the v8 roar wow.

  Mad Max...Gibson on speed!
Review created: 07/03/08

Mel Gibson : Exactly as he should be remembered!
The high octane action begins with a slightly cheesy 70's feel, techniques used include the film being played a little too fast to portay the feeling of speed, that said, this is great!

I was just a nipper when this hit the silver screens but its always had a little special place in my heart every time i stayed up to watch it when i was old enough ( Thanks dad)
I bought it on ebay and watched it in one straight sitting, all 3 dvds are a great methanol injected boost down memory lane...Buy it and enjoy ;-)

Very enjoyable to watch all 3 DVDs and see story line developing. The price was very good, service for dispatch of DVD extremely high would consider doing business with that seller again. It is nice to get exactly what you pay for without any difficulties arising.

  Not to be missed trilogy
Review created: 03/01/07

This trilogy is a classic. The original Mad Max, set in the Australian outback, is a bit calmer than the other two - it really explains how Max becomes a loner and sets off on his isolated journeys. The other two become much more futuristic and aim more at a wider market, with their fights, car chases, great effects, story line, deaths and mutilations!!
I bought this set, since my children hadnt seen it, and I thought they'd love them - as they do. We've watched then all again and again since buying.
I'd recommend anyone purchase DVDs on ebay. For starters they are heaps cheaper than in the shops, and I find a much wider range is available. Shops are limited with their stock, ebay is unlimited. All movies I've purchased have been good quality, they are delivered direct to your door, so much easier than fighting through the crowds. Ebay is great!
