The Very Best of the Lovin Spoonful CD 1998.

This is an excellent compilation CD of the Spoonful's best work.John Sebastian was,and is, a very talented songwriter and tracks such as "Daydream","Did you ever have to make up your mind?","Do you believe in Magic","Rain on the Roof",Summer in the City" etc,etc still hold up very well.
Sebastians voice is an aquired taste though as to these ears its not very good, but its fair to say that it does suit the majority of tracks on this CD.
The Spoonful ran out of steam around 1968 and Sebastian has been playing solo ever since, and even had a top 10 hit in the States with a TV theme tune "Welcome Back" in the late seventies.
The remainder of the Spoonful (Guitarist Zal Zankouski is sadly no longer with us reconvened to play small venues about Eight years ago but the Live CD I heard show they do miss Sebastian and are basically just a tribute band.
Finally, if you want just one Spoonful CD this should be it and the 20 tracks show how consistent they were for the Four years,or so, they were riding the USA,and British charts.
