Love Me Tender
No Elvis film collection is complete without this, his first role. Here is the young Elvis trying his best to act, fresh faced and with very strong Southern accent! It's a very enjoyable film. The songs are unnecessary but not incongruous in the setting in which they are placed. It has quite a strong storyline, and one which raises some moral issues. The film is in black and white, which suits the sombre mood.
Not the best Elvis film (in my opinion that accolade goes to King Creole with its great storyline and brilliant songs), but it is worth having just to watch the young, unspoilt Elvis Presley.
