When Lost first appeared on UK screens I watched the first 15 minutes and thought "Oh dear, look at the hero doctor saying that he only let's fear take hold for 5 seconds" and immediately turned it off. How foolish I was. It was all anyone would talk about at work and at the pub and I always wondered if I had made the right decision.

Two months ago, as the Third season started on Sky, I decided to buy the first season and give it a go and, as you can see, I've just bought the second season!! This show is phenomenal! It's original has a great variety of cast and characters, gets you laughing, gets you crying and above all...gets you thinking!! You never know what will happen next and if you DO think you know then you'll probably be proved wrong.

I urge anyone who wants a good TV show to be addicted to to watch this!

Season 2 comes with 7 discs (24 programmes and a bonus disc) and each episode is 40ish minutes long (so it's easy to watch one and think "oh go on, let's watch another")

  Lost Series 2

I cannot re-iterate just how good this tv show is.

Series 2 evolves slightly from series one in the fact that the locations invovled are more spread out accross the island.
There is alot of irony in the fact that while the losties are struggling to survive there are people living in relative luxury on the same island.
There is alot of emphasis placed on the "others" (the islands original inhabitants) in this series.
In addition to this on finds many philosophical undertones within the storyline and it is this that makes lost so good. The addition of a religious character gives rise to many religous explenations to the story.
Another defining feature of lost is the way there are many flashbacks in every episode. In actuality, the story of what happened before the plane crash is more intriguing than how the losties deal with the situation. Series two reveals alot of answers to questions that have been eating away at us in series 1
What does the monster look like?
What is in that hatch?
What happened to the tail section of the plane?
Why have they not been rescued yet?
Where did ethan come from?

You get answers for all of these questions and more so buy the DVD to find out

***Update***
Series three is now showing and I emplore you to have watched sereis two before series three

GOOD BUT NOT AS GOOD AS SEASON 1
Review created: 29/08/07
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Season 2 opens exactly where season 1 ended. Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly), and Locke (Terry O'Quinn) are about to enter the mysterious hatch they've been trying to enter for half the first season. Inside, they find only more mysteries, and a computer that requires their input every 108 minutes. What do they have to input? Those numbers that make Hurley (Jorge Garcia) so incredibly nervous.

Meanwhile, Michael (Harold Perrineau), Jin (Daniel Dae Kim), and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) are adrift in the ocean. "The Others," whoever they are, kidnapped Michael's son Walt (Malcolm David Kelley) and blew up the raft the three were on. When they land back on the island, they discover they aren't the only survivors of their plane crash. People from the tail of the plane are alive and hiding out for fear of "The Others." What does this group want? Why have they been tormenting the tailies?

Over the course of the season, even more questions are raised. Along the way, we do learn what Kate did that put her on the run from the law, where Claire (Emilie de Ravin) went when she disappeared last season, and why the plane crashed that fateful day.

While I loved this season and didn't miss an episode, I found myself disappointed with the first half. Twice in those twelve episodes, they led us up to an exciting point, only to spend the next new episode revealing back-story that we didn't need and only served to slow the story down. Then the next week they moved things forward again. I found these backtracks very frustrating, even for a show famous for their flashbacks.

Things definitely picked up in the second twelve episodes, however. The story began to move forward quickly, still giving us two questions for every answer. I don't find the lack of answers frustrating. I just hope my faith in the producers to answer everything before the show ends is justified.

Three new cast members joined the show this season. Cynthia Watros, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Michelle Rodriguez played members of the tailies. They proved just as compelling and interesting to watch as the returning cast members from season one. Everyone brings their A game to their role each week, making the story spring to life and drawing me further into the web.

And this DVD set proves just as wonderful as the set from season one. The video is once again sharp wide screen, and the sound is a very full surround. I haven't heard any other TV show make this kind of use of the sound. You are in the show. If I weren't so addicted to watching it every week, it would almost be worth waiting for the season sets, they're that good. All twenty-four episodes are presented on six discs. Along the way, there are five audio commentaries by various members of the cast and crew.

Then there's disc seven. Once again, it is packed full of great bonus material, including deleted scenes, bloopers, character back story filmed for this set, and the making of an episode, to name a few.

While this season wasn't as good as the first season, it is still extremely entertaining and better then many shows currently on the air. You really do want to start with season one before watching this as everything will make much more sense. You will quickly be hooked and counting the days until season three premiers so you can find out what happens next.

Surely it cant get better. Can it?

After a slightly stilted start (the first three episodes revolve around Jack, Kate and Locke's first experiences of the hatch), Lost Season 2 simply gets better and better as it progresses.

Henry Ian Cusick positively shines as Desmond, while the familiar faces continue to do so.

Season 2's increased focus on the mythology of the island and its inhabitants may put some viewers off, but for me this simply made an already incredible programme all the more un-missable. The blistering concluding episodes take LOST Season 2 above its predecessor, making this box set a must-buy for both occasional viewers and die-hard fans alike. Roll on, Season 3!

And even season 4......

  Lost season 2
Review created: 08/05/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I decided to buy this because my computer would not download it fast enough and I was desperate to see it as I am a lost addict and needed my fix! I was late catching on to this programme - I am also a massive Heroes fan, and a friend of mine told me that Lost was a better programme than Heroes; I wouldn't say it's better - but it's certainly equally as good. I went on to download season 1 and watch them all in order - and they did not disappoint! - so this is how I ended up buying season 2 on ebay as I could not wait for it to download as I was so hooked!
If you have already watched season 1 like I did, season 2 focuses on 'the hatch' which was blown open at the end of series 1. In the hatch lives a scottish bloke called 'Desmond' - a lovely character - although quite sad, because he goes on to discover he's living his life in some kind of loop or time travelling - but he is powerless to change future events. He is in love with Penny who's dad is Alan Dale (Jim Robinson from neighbours) who is quite a nasty man it turns out.
I do not want to give any more away, but buying this is strongly recommended because you can then proceed to season 3 which is even better and more sinister, and season 4 is superb because flash forwards have replaced the flashbacks!!!wow!! Any questions please feel free to ask!

Whilst waiting for the rest of Series 4 on Sky, we decided to buy this series 2 to catch up with a few episodes we missed. The whole family are hooked, and it has been very entertaining. Its great to go back and find out where characters have popped up in the past episodes. Excellent!

If you like being left on the edge of your seat by cruel cliffhangers and endless questions all beginning with the words "what if" then this is a great addition to anyones collection.

Join Locke, Kate, and Jack on a rollercoaster of events that answer some of the most pressing questions from series 1 only to leave you asking more mind bending new ones.

Worth every penny

  Lost-series 2
Review created: 10/04/08

Lost is, as i'm sure you've already heard, a US drama series about a bunch of people who crash-land on an island and miraculously survive. However the island seems to have a life of it's own and the survivers start to fear their unpredictable not so deserted island.

In this installment we get to see the best of the action which ranges from the likely to the more surreal imagination of the creators. People get killed or maimed every other episode and it's hard at times to guess who's next to peg it. The unpredictable nature of the series is it's allure in my opinion. You can never really tell where it's going as the ingenious sub-plot of each character gets more complex with time.

Essentially the story of the second series is based around "Jack," and "Locke's," difference of opinion with regards to the mysterious "Hatch," they discover at the end of series 1. The survivors split into two camps and more characters are introduced as the old ones get killed off. In terms of script this series is probably the most interesting and suspenseful. It certainly had me intrigued.

In short this is a series of stories which explore the morality and beliefs of each character within an interesting backdrop of an enchanted jungle. Enjoy!

The next instalment of this brilliant series, which in all fairness should have ended after series 3 as it had all intention of doing.

However this boxset in one of the enjoyable ones & should definately be viewed. However, if you haven't seen the first series I high;y recommend that you get that, & view it first, as you won't have a single idea about what's happening in this series.

Truely a masterpiece. Highly recommended.
