Logitech TrackMan® Trackball (904369-0403-EA)

Had an old Logitec Trackball years ago but my wife couldn't get on with it so I gave it away! Now we use different PC's and I can go back to a trackball.
Cures wrist aches, very accurate, easy to use and simple to get used to.
I use the PC for a lot of video editing and sometimes a mouse is actually better than the trackball (just for some jobs) so I also use a Logitec cordless laser mouse which, to my surprise, doesn't interfere with the trackball, I simply use whichever suits at the time.
Set up was easy - install drivers/software, plug it in and away you go!.
Oh! The best bit is it doesn't slide all over the desk damaging the wooden surface like my wife's does!

seen one of these used by another person asked there opinion of it and now will give my own they are great to use if on pc for any amount of time tricky to begin with but all things new are have used it for several hours now and very glad i bought one

very usefull and its give me more space on my dask,i love to use this evey time,i can say, this is the best product i ever bought.

This is an excellent product!! I use my computer all day long and one thing I have found is that getting the right mouse can make all the difference.

This product is well thought out and very easy to use, I will definately be recommending this product to all of my friends!

Overall a good piece of equipment. Well made and very ergonomic (fits perfect in your hand).
It is used with navigation software on board a boat so no moving around of the cursor when the boat is in rough seas) and we have had some decent success with it. Takes a while to get used to but is easy once you remember to use your thumb to move around. However it saves from getting mouse pad burns on the wrist and certainly for this type of usage we would recommend the Logitech Trackball.
Unfortunately not really made for left handed use.

I recently received my Logitech Trackman after searching around for a viable input device for my laptop.
I don't like the touch pad on my laptop (it makes my hand ache), and I don't have enough room when I'm sitting on a bus or a train for a mouse.

I specifically looked for the chorded version of this product - I'm not going to be moving it round when using it, so why bother with a wireless version?

Anyway, I received this item a couple of days ago, and I've been using it in the office for my work for about 20 hours now, and I must say, I think it's the best trackball I've ever used.

Previously, I haven't been a fan of trackballs. I like moving my arm with the pointer on the screen, and I've been doing that since my old Atari ST in the 80's, so it's a pretty ingrained habit by now.

The other problem I've had with trackballs in the past is that you have to use your index finger or you middle finger to control the ball. This is a pain for me when I want to drag something, as I virtually have to use two hands to click the button and move the ball with my index finger.

Not so this design - once you get used to moving the pointer with your thumb, the whole process becomes very intuitive and natural feeling. OK, so 20 hours of track ball doesn't make me quite as proficient as 20 years with a mouse, but I am at the point where I no longer think about the co-ordination of the trackball when I'm using it.

The trackman is very smooth, very easy to use, and has the same three buttons as my trusty old Microsoft Optical mouse (in the same positions using the same fingers). I am in fact using it now as I type this review.

If there's any criticisms, the only niggle would be that this is an entirely right-handed product. Half of my family is left-handed (yes, really), and none of them wouold be able to use this. It would be great to see a 'leftie' version of this product as well.

So, great design, great product, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a (right handed) track ball solution.

I've had a Trackball for well over ten years now and find it so much better than any other mouse, more comfortable (Ergonomic) and just better overall to use.

I've only now had to replace it with yet another. I didn't expect ten good years out of a product like this, but I've found it much more accurate and less likely to lose position when working.

To top that you don't need a hard surface making it probably the most mobile pointing device ever.

I wouldn't use it to play FPS but I had no trouble using it with strategy/rpg games and graphics-based applications.

The only negative point is that it's Right Hand only !!

As far as I know, this is the only trackball in the Logitech range that is wireles and has the ball under your thumb. That's what I wanted so for me it's great. The quality is high, the ball is precise and smooth. The battery life is good (months). The wireless range is more than 2 metres.

I have used the Logitech Trackman Trackball for about 12 months. It is expensive, ranging from £25 to £50, depending on where you buy it, but it is worth every penny especially if you use your pc continuously like me.

Why is it good, well there are two main reasons.

The first and possibly the best is that unlike conventional mice you do not move the mouse around in a circular motion, instead with the Trackman Trackball you move the big red ball on the unit in the same way (circular motion). Conventional mice puts the pressure on your wrist, with the Trackman Trackball the pressure is on your fingers instead. What I find is that wrist pain is far more forthcoming than finger pain, I don't know the reason for this, although I am sure that there is a more scientific reason than I have stated. I did get wrist pain when using a conventional mouse after a significant period of time, with the Trackman Trackball I haven't had any.

The second main reason for the Trackman Trackball is that you do need much desk space to manouvre the mouse. With conventional mice you can go off your mouse mat when going from one side of the screen to the other, the Trackman Trackball doesn't because you are only moving the red ball on the mouse.

It will take you a couple of hours to get used to the Trackman Trackball but once you do it will make things easier and also a lot less pain free in the future.

I've been using TrackMan Trackballs for a few years and love them. The general advantage of trackballs is that they work on any surface, cause less wrist strain and are very good for accurate movements.

I bought this specifically for game playing (perfect world)on my laptop. Trying to move the camera view with the touchpad was tedious and kept resulting in my fingers cramping! Mice don't work well with lap-positioned laptops so I thought I'd give the trackball a go. I opted for the "wired" version for a couple of reasons; wireless require a dongle occupy a usb port which in my experience frequently catch on arms, legs, spouse etc. Also having the wired version eliminates the problem of sourcing and charging batteries. Further, I'd read that some wireless units don't have the range promised on the box and others can suffer from time lag.
The device itself is very good in use and works well with perfect world. The ergonomics are comfortable and position of buttons and wheel are just right for a natural, reasonably relaxed feel. The buttons and wheel by default work the same as a standard mouse but can be re-configured with the software you can download from logitech UK (took about 2-3 mins). You can also adjust cursor speed and set "game detection" mode amongst other things. I've used logitech in the past and am never dissapointed by function or reliability.
I have no hesitation in recommending this device, does exactly what I want. It does take a little time and use to become completely comfortable with it but once you are you wont look back.

This mouse is by far the easiest to use.
No going round in circles to get your pointer to where you want it, just a smooth, gentle movemnet of the ball using your thumb.
Also very comfortable on the hand, and wrist.

Purchased for use with my pc, allows me to navigate the mouse pointer using any surface, very accurate and precise. Using the trackball for long periods does not strain my wrist as a standard mouse does. The USB cable is longer than normal, great for sitting in bed.... This mouse is only good for a right handed person!!!

Bisogna saper superare l'impatto di chi ha usato il mouse per riabituare le dita ai nuovi comandi. Fatto questo (un paio di giorni) è assolutamente più comodo, il braccio sta fermo (a me dava fastidio strusciare col braccio sul bordo del tavolo) si elimina il tappetino, è esteticamente più carino ed inusuale rispetto ad un mouse per quanto bello ed è molto ergonomico e rilassante.

Thought it would be easier to use but it didn't work on either of my computers running XP. Software was on floppy disc but I don't have a floppy drive any more.
