Llittle red Flowers

This film is extraordinary.
The only adult actors are the teachers, all women. The rest are actors all aged 4, 5 and 6......and they are brilliant!!
Its about a young boy who is left in a boarding school as his parents work away and the grandmother who looked after him has left. You might be thinking the school is going to be Dickensian or staffed like Matilda's School. But it isn't.
The staff are kind, the children are well cared for.........so why is this movie so appealing? becuase its real. It does manage to capture the world of a 4/5 year old, with their spontanaity, transient thought, imagination and above all their neediness.
Any kid dumped like the boy is going to have a problem adjusting.....although the staff were kind, they really were too comcerned about the order of the school and somewhat insensitive to the needs of a small boy.
The little red flowers were the reward the children had for being good......it really wouldn't have taken much to keep the little laddy on the straight and narrow if he had been rewarded enough....the little red flowers took the place of any affection that might not be there.....but he didn't get enough!!
Not a lot else happens.....its just a study of the little fella and all he goes through and how his behaviours change, and all with innocence.
The end left me hanging.....maybe it was meant to, as this is what it must be like for him.......but if you have any other ideas, let me know.
Really worth watching!!
