After reading other reviews on this recorder, I decided to go ahead and purchase one for myself. What a bargain!! A great price and a great item.
I am well impressed with the whole thing, it's quiet and so simple to use.
After transfering nearly all our tapes onto disc (very easy to do this )my daughter decided that she wanted a copy of a family tape so I copied a disc for her. This 2hr disc took about 15 minutes to copy. The quality is outstanding, even when recording in extra long mode (6hrs on disc or 96hrs on hard drive).
Love the shift mode (pausing live tv) it's so easy and you never have to miss anything ever again when the 'phone rings etc. Lastly, no matter how many recordings you have on the hard drive, it's simple and quick to find the programme you wish to watch. Every thing's so easy!!

) I bought a LiteOn (160GB) a few years ago (and still great) on impulse and have never looked back. So was looking another for my sons room to store some films on the hard drive rather than have discs laying about, I got an 80GB on ebay at a bargain.
So easy to set up and use. As well as DVD's (NOT originals), can connect camcorder & transfer onto the hard drive to store and make back-up's when required. Can also store CD's & photo/pictures (via photo/homemade CD) - so you could have a media centre & viewer (through TV) all in one.
PROs - Easy to use, Copy; from disc to HDD, HDD to disc, Quick view on your recordings, Video+, Time-shift (pause live TV), connections including optical (to amp/reciever).
CONs - No twin tuner or HDMI but I cannot fault this player and if anyone is thinking of buying one, you won't be disappointed.
PS - I bought a LiteOn computer internal DVD RoM drive a while back and was out of the same factory as JVC, don't know if they have an input anymore???
