Excellent DVD Recorder... apart from one minor glitch

I actually have three of these DVD Recorders - all, I might add, purchased from sellers on eBay over a period of four and a half years. I bought my first one in November 2004, and it served me well. It was brilliant not only for recording from TV but also for transferring all my old video tapes to DVD. It's also great for transferring my camcorder tapes to DVD. I was so impressed with this machine that I bought another one two years later for the bedroom. The Lite-On LVW-5005 is simple to use and I love the fact that it is dual format and can record on both DVD+R and DVD-R discs. This was one of the features that first attracted me to this particular model. Most DVD players/recorders will playback both formats but only certain makes/models can record using either format. I love the versatility of not being restricted to one particular format. Having said that, I find DVD+R seem to be more user friendly when it comes to playing the discs back on different makes of DVD player, but when recording just for my own use I find either format is fine. The only annoyance of the Lite-On LVW-5005 Recorder is the DVD drawer tray can be very temperamental at times and has a tendency to stick and refuses to open. This can be very frustrating especially when you want to record something in a hurry and need to insert a blank DVD. Despite this I recently purchased a third machine as a replacement for my first one where the problem of the sticking DVD tray seems to have gotten much worse during the last six months. Still, I can hardly complain about a second hand machine that gave me practically four years of trouble-free service. This is why I would have no hesitation in recommending the Lite-On LVW-5005 DVD Recorder to anyone.
