Lexar Compact Flash Memory Card (256 MB) (KPCF256SCS)

Apologies for the incorrect (IN BLUE) title of this review. This is set by Ebay I think and possibly relates to the listing I bought this item from. Anyway, this review is for a 64MB card and not 256, although much of what is here would apply just the same to a 256mb card.

Regular readers of my reviews will know I favour small capacity cards as they suit my workflow and for security reasons. Well, these Lexars sit side by side with my trusty Sandisks, get equal use and are every bit as good.

I use these lexar compact flash cards all day long as I need to get somewhere between 20 & 50 pictures to my processor quickly so that customers can see their pictures. I then have to reformat them and shoot again, also quickly.

Having given them this sort of use for several years and still having most of my original cards, I can highly recommend these cards. The only reason I've not given them 5/5 is that obviously they will be slower to reformat than the newer faster cards. I have however, never found the slower write speed to be an issue when shooting and I often use my motor drive for a number of frames in one go.

All in all, these "older" cards still have a great role to play and because they're often cheaper, you can grab a bargain.

As I'm always saying, I think you're much better off with a load of small cards instead of one big one, in case something goes wrong. With a fist full of smaller cards, the chances are you will still have some of your precious pictures saved. If one big card goes wrrong you loose the lot. Anybody that thinks any type of card is foolproof, is asking for trouble. Any cards can fail!
