Letters From Iwo Jima (DVD)

Excellent film, and watched in conjunction with "Flags of Our Fathers". Made a very welcome addition to our DVD collection.

this film tells about the japanse solders called in to a world war two that a lot of them would of rather not been in. its all in japanese with english subtiltles has some moments but really only interest is for a japanese person .or someone who interested in outhers cultrures. i found it hard going

In a word STUNNING. We watched Flags of our Fathers the night before and you get drawn in to feeling for the Americans. We watch Letters the next nght and sat there feeling really sorry for the Japanese. These two films are modern masterpieces. For some reason I'd rate them with the suspense and feeling generated by the best of Alfred Hitchock. Watch this film you will not go wrong. STUNNING. Also awsome on BLU_RAY.

Realistic portrayal of the war between Japan and America. Memorable acting by Kazunari Ninomiya as Saigo. would recommend to anyone who isn't a huge war movie fan (like me) because it's just a really great film.

This is an excellent film, and I think much better than the flags of our fathers. Well worth it.
It gave a real insight into how Japan treated its own soldiers and civilians.

I had meant to watch this film for a long time but just never got round to it. Hence the reason I purchased the DVD.
Clint Eastwoods directing in this film is excellent. His choice of actors could not have been better for this particular topic. Made more authentic by being in Japanese (with English sub-titles) made the film all the more realistic. What a nice change it was to get the Japanese perspective on this event and not the all American hero version as is the usual.
All in all in my opinion an excellent film. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

make sure you also purchase Flags of our Fathers to see the other side of the story. Excellent films from a master, Clint Eastwood.
