The Song Remains the Same- Led Zeppelin.

I bought this dvd because I had'nt seen much live footage of Led Zep.
At first I thought the wrong disc had been put in the box as it opens with a bizarre sketch of a ganster shootout featuring Peter Grant (Led Zeps' manager) which doesn't seem to bear any relation to the rest of the dvd!
Thankfully things settle down to a more normal scenario with a short intro to the concert, with clips of each band member relaxing prior to the tour ahead ,before arriving in New York.
The concert then kicks off with 'Rock n roll' followed by 'Black Dog' then the pace slows with 'Since I've been lovin you' and 'No quarter'.
Many of the favourites are here, Whole lotta love- Dazed and confused- Heart breaker- Moby dick featuring Bonzo's infamous drum solo and the legendary Stairway to heaven. The live footage is interspersed with backstage clips which work quite well in between the music, but also with 'fantasy scenes' where various band members indulge in arty sketches which typify the indulgent late 60's/early 70's rock scene. Not really my thing, especially when you just want to watch the gig!
All in all though an enjoyable dvd to anyone who's a fan of Zep. Get the kids in bed, put on your best velvet loonpants, platform shoes, grab your air Gibson Les Paul and rock out! Just make sure you shut the curtains first.
