Last Action Hero (DVD 2004)

I thought this was a great movie, it’s a parody of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s action movies, I think people tried to take it seriously and it did not do very well at the box office.

This type of humor will not appeal to everyone. There are lots of comedy one liners, this is an entertaining film, just enjoy it don’t look for anything ‘deep’


Plot summary:

What if you could not only watch a movie but go ‘into it’ and interact with the characters.

Danny Madigan (Austin O'Brien) gets given a magic ticket which enables him to go into the world of his favorite movie character Jack Slater.

Benedict (Charles Dance) Jack Slater’s arch enemy learns of the magical ticket and sees an opportunity to finally kill Jack, by killing the actor who plays him, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I was so happy when I found this, I was only browsing to see what was on offer and when I came across this, I was so pleased. I love the film when I saw it, so I immediately wanted it. The DVD came quickly and I was happy with the quality. Thanks.

Its a film I saw not long after it came out and I loved it so decided to get my own copy. I guess a lot of people didn't get it because its very much a dig at the movie industry and its repeat formulas, some subtle, some downright obvious and it shows that Arnie himself is not afraid to take the mick out of his own typecasting! Great fun and a laught for everyone, especially us big kids!

I was going to watch this film on TV one evening and ended up missing it so I bought a used copy on ebay. I say used but it looked like new. Great Arnie film, got panned by the critics when it came out but it's a great bit of escapist fun. Got it real cheap too, only a couple of pounds... nice one.

Last Action Hero is a brilliant fun cheesy action flick. A fun story to follow and some great twists. Theres some laughs and good action. The directing is brilliant and has been done well. The acting is good, the effects are brilliant and overall, this is a solid great Arnie film. This is definately a film to remember from the 90s.

Plot:

Young Danny Madigan is a big fan of Jack Slater, a larger-than-life action hero played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. When his best friend, Nick the projectionist, gives him a magic ticket to the new Jack Slater film, Danny is transported into Slater's world, where the good guys always win. One of Slater's enemies, Benedict the hitman, gets hold of the ticket and ends up in Danny's world, where he realises that if he can kill Schwarzenegger, Slater will be no more. Slater and Danny must travel back and stop him.

Last Action hero is another good action from Arnie. He plays a screen action hero who comes to life for a young boy, when he finds magic ticket!
The chase is on when his evil arch enemy follows him through.. but in this world, when he gets shot, it really hurts!
Superb action romp.
