What a delightful Film! 101% Recommended To All.
Staring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith who play the part of two sisters (Janet & Ushula). They discover a Castaway washed-up on the nearby beach below their house. With help from friends in the nearby village the two sisters nurse the young man back to health. They soon discover this young man has remarkable talent and an unsettling effect it has on them both especially Ushula. The sisters lives will never be the same again.
A True Heart-warming British Film that I personally recommended you buy. This can be bought VERY cheap on eBay.

Any film starring those national treasures Judi Dench and Maggie Smith is worth seeing and this one is a real put-your-feet-up-and-enjoy movie! It's the delightful story of two elderly sisters who find a shipwrecked young man on the beach near their Cornish home and nurse him back to health. Soon the lad is unsettling them and their lives. A sweet gem of a film.

I loved the film of Ladies in Lavender and the music soundtrack. I wanted to watch the film several more times so I searched on E-Bay, the only place to buy a bargain! The transaction was fast and the price was good. I shall keep it as a favourite film.

I loved the whole thing. The scenery, the gentle story and the wonderful acting of Maggie Smith and Judy Dench. Can't remember names of the other actors but they were all very good. Probably a DVD for the ladies rather than the gentlemen. I decided to buy it because I saw half at a friends and it broke down, I had to see the ending so I bought my own.

Borrowed this film from the library and loved it so decided to buy my own copy.
Definitely a film for females like me who are more interested in the setting of the film rather than the story. Let's face it the story could be summed up in half a sentence BUT the setting is g-r-e-a-t!
If you like cottages/small houses furnished in period furniture with doilies, tea cosies, tray cloths and ladies dressed in woollen stockings, wrap around aprons and tight bun hair dos go for it!

Ladies in Lavendar captured me from the very first scene. Set in Cornwall 1936 the story is about two sisters who live together in their family home. One morning after a heavy nights storm they go outside to assess the weather/ damage and see something washed up on the shore in the distance . It turns out to be a young man barely alive and from then on the story begins - The sisters become very protective of him and he rouses feelings in the women long forgotten , this story is appealing to people of all ages, my niece (16) watched and loved it along with myself . There is 1 use of bad language .

Excellently produced and directed by Charles Dance no less than you would expect. Acting by Maggie Smith Judi Dench as everyone delightful, a very good film to watch on a rainy miserable afternoon with the wind howling outside and snow falling, which was when I watched it. Had always wanted to see it after reading about it in the Daily Telegraph.

A perfect dvd for ladies like myself who don't like any violence. A wonderful story about two elderly sisters from Cornwall and a young guy rescued from the sea.

I thought this film was endearing / refreshing made a big change to films with violence/fear .... I would recommend if you want something nice to watch to take the world away for a while then this is the film for you!!

I haven't actually watched the film myself. I was pleased to find it on ebay as my mother in law had been trying to find it in the shops and was unsuccessful. I found it on ebay and this started me off on my ebay experience.

Excellent acting by Maggie Smith and Judy Dench. Superb scenic background and backing music with a great story.

It was a lovely film, beautiful music, I never realised I even liked violin music until I heard this. The scenery was wonderful,and the acting was superb. It had the feel-good factor, and some.

I wasn't particularly looking for this film when I searched through, but I knew of it, and thought at the price it would be good to have it, oh so glad I did.

the movie is good for ladies in lavender not my kind of movie it would suit the ladies more than the male but on the hole it was a good movie my wife like it and at the end of the day that is all that counts

If you like Cornwall, you'll love this film!Brilliant sea scenes,well acted, storyline a little weak in places,but overall a good "period "drama,with just the right amount of humour to stop the whole thing becoming "Twee"

We bought this dvd to forget about the cold winter nights.Put our feet up by a roaring log fire,and relax and watch a good dvd.This is exactly what we got.

This is so beautifully filmed with excellent acting and wonderful music. A film you can watch more than once.I had seen it before in the cinema and wanted to see it again, it is just as good on the small screen.
