  Muppets on acid!
Review created: 11/06/06(updated 18/06/06)
5 of 8 people found this review helpful.

Jim Henson, the creator of 'The Muppets', has created a team of 'punk muppets' especially for this film. With the added filming skill of George Lucas and the script by Mony Python's Terry Jones you can expect to be in for a treat!

PLOT

Sarah, played by Jennifer Connelly is upset to have been made to baby sit her younger brother and wishes him away. The goblin bad guy, played by David Bowie, grants her wish.
Sarah soon regrets her actions and vows to get him back. The bulk of this film is of her leading a hellish and at times surreal journey to retrieve him.
David Bowie has one particularly surreal sixties acid moment in the film where they leave the plot and the planet!

RESULT

The film is a cross between the Muppet show and Alice in wonderland. Any child would enjoy the puppetry and the humour in this film, although little ones out there may need counselling through the scarier parts of the film.
If you get the chance to watch this film, try playing spot the real or puppet 'Dulux' dog.

David Bowie
Jennifer Connelly

  Labyrinth DVD (2004)

I bought this film as we are gradually replacing our children’s' video collection with DVDs and this is one of our favourites.

My children absolutely love the story and the characters. It’s made by the same people that do the Muppets and Sesame Street, so apart from the main human characters, played by David Bowie and Jennifer Connolly, practically everyone else is a puppet of some description.

The film has a pretty good plot, especially for a children’s' film, and there are lots of songs (many of which are sung brilliantly by David Bowie), dancing and laughs.

I would definitely recommend this film to anyone with a GSOH and a soft spot for Muppets!

One of the best old movies ever!! This is a film that i always remembered as a child. When i watched it again i fell in love with all over again. My daughter 6 year old daughter loves it too. The goblins aren't too scary for her because the graphics are rubbish but the story and everything else is brill. Thats coming from a 24 year old!!

This has got to be a classic. you can watch it again and again. Suitable for all ages. Have you noticed milk bottles at the start? its this kind of attention to detail that makes The Labyrinth one of my all time favourites - and David Bowie too what more can you want.

  music,adventure, comedy and fantasy!!
Review created: 26/09/09

This a great film for the whole family. Frustrated with baby sitting yet again, Sarah(Jennifer Connelly) is a teenager with a very active imagination, she decides to summon the Goblins from her favorite book, "Labyrinth" to take her baby step brother away. When Toby acually disappears, Sarah must follow him into a world of the fairy tale to rescue him from the wicked Goblin King(David Bowie). Guarding his castle is The Labyrinth itself, a twisted maze of deception, with very outrageous charactures and unknown dangers. to save Toby, Sarah will need to outwit the King by befriending the very goblins who protect him, in hope that their loyalty isn't just another illusion in a place where nothing is as it seems!!!

Enter the Labyrinth with David Bowie and friends.
Review created: 29/07/09

If you like David Bowie and are a fan of Jim Henson then this is heaven! It is a bit like Alice in Wonderland with fanciful creations from a creative mind. There is a loose plot of trying to reverse a wish made in vain but it all comes right in the end and was just a dream... or was it?

Stars David Bowie as the Goblin King. Easy watch for all the family except very young ones. Jim Hensons goblin creatures are fantastic too!

  Worth a Watch
Review created: 24/03/09

I liked this film becasue it is one of those calssic 80s films. Story line is pretty cool and time and effort went into making the puppets etc. You don't see david bowie doing much acting these days, lol.

Suppose at a long shot the speacial effect arn't to good but you have to think if when it was made.

Brought it becasue the copy that I had was damaged, could only watch about half of the film.

  The Muppets become movie stars
Review created: 09/12/08

The Labyrinth was another of Jim Hensons moves on the big screen.
It tells the story of a girl growing up. She has a young baby brother, who she hates cos he cries, so she asks the goblin king (David Bowie) to take him.
When he does what she asks, she realises what she has done, and so begins an amazing journey, through a fantasy land, meeting many creatures.
Some scenes are a great hit (the bog of eternal stench!), others a bit of a miss
(strange orange birds who can take their bodies apart).
But superb entertainment.

This is a classic fantasy film starring david bowie. In it, you enter the world of good verses evil. There are goblins and other magical creatures in this excellent family film. Just because it`s an old film, it is , in my opinion, just as good whether you watch it once or 100 times.
