Grasshopper revisited
Not as good as they used to be!
When I saw these programmes in the 70s I thought that they held deep mystic insights, a guide or code for life. Now with modern special effects, and bigger budgets, modern films like Tiger & Dragon make these seem almost amaturish. The fights are clumsy and would surely have been more dramatic had Bruce Lee not been rejected for the part. Yet they still hold a charm. They are somehow more realistic than a BL spectacular. The character is also flawed, making him more human.
The monkly wisdom now seems trite, almost flippant, but I still got a sense that there is a better way. Maybe I have just grown more cynical, but the price was certainly worth paying for the nostalgia. I loved them.
