Kula Shaker - K

You won't find a better start to an album the "Hey Dud" great opener, and the rest of the album will not let you down.
So I relise that Kula Shaker are not every one's cup of tea but if you are after some great Guitar driven athems of the 90's go and grab a copy of "K" for about 99p ....BARGAIN...Still going strong today with the new album "Strange Folk" ....Cheers Dan @ Lakinis-vinyl-store.

Kula Shaker - Ah the memories

I decided to buy this album as, at the time, I was feeling very nostalgic. I had just heard an old song on the radio and wanted to get their album as soon as possible - along with a few others!! The old favourites were on there to dance around the room to - Hey Dude, Govinda, but there were a few you just had to lay back and chill out to. I haven't felt like that in a long while so it was the best £1.99 I've spent for a very long time!

This CD is the first of the groups I've listened to and I was very impressed. The album is lively and there is great variation in the tracks. And the bizzare ending?..... scared me to death.. fantastic!

  Classic 90s CD

This is a great album for any Brit-pop fan, a very similar style.
The best track by far is their biggest hit, Hey Dude, but don't let that put you off the rest of the album. Definately recommend giving it a listen, especially for the price it's listed on ebay for!

Kula Shaker - K (CD 2000) I used to own it years ago and loved it then sadly though over the years it seemed to go missing. What can I say about it,well if you just want to reminisce about days gone by then this is the album for you. It is also just the thing if you need to unwind after a long day.

  Kula Shaker - Shaking on!

I searched for this CD on Ebay as it was one I has many years ago, well 7 but in my lifetime it was ages ago, and it was a bit of a classic for me! I'd basically went through my teenage years listening to this album. I would put it on at night to fall asleep to although I would get a fright when the hidden track came on and I was already sleeping! I got it for a bargain price on Ebay, as usual, and am really happy to have it back in my CD collection. I don't know what happened to my copy all those years ago - most likely got left at a party or something! Kula Shaker never really done much after this album but they are having a bit of a revival which is welcomed!

Everybody's Looking For That Lil' Bit Of Honey....
Review created: 05/04/07

I watched a show on Kula Shaker about a year back. They seem one of those bands that kinda disappeared into the background until you actually listen to the music being played on adverts. And since then, it's been one of those things I've been consciously trying to remember to buy. Browsing eBay, I found a cheap copy of it, man, I'm so glad I did.

The album "K" itself encompasses everything that was hip, cool, and rebellious about the 90's in the UK, but has that distinct new millennia vibe to it. Incredibly influenced by Indian Music, relaxing, yet upbeat. Enticing, yet mood enhancing. The lyrics are simply amazing, and can be reflected upon in many ways. The use of guitar and synth really drag everything we'd preconceived about Eastern music out in the cold. Guitars shredding with a slight undertone of the sitar, drumming enhanced by bongo's ... it can alter your mood in so many ways, does music get any better than this?!

Quite a good album, though, unfortunately not one I would play all to often. It makes good background music on the whole, and there are only really a couple of tracks which really strike a chord with me, and I do like Kula Shaker. I think I'd choose a later album in future.

I was talking to my girlfriend about crispin mills (lead singer) when i thought he was on never mind the buzzcocks. Thought i'll have a quick look on ebay, and there it was. Listen too it more than once a week and suddenly two tracks are used on telly now. Govinda on an ad, and far more importantly, Hey dude by the wonderful motor show BBC's TOP GEAR! Alternative rock fans need this in their rack!

Bought this album because it has good memories of good mates, there are about 3 songs on it that I love and could listen to again and again but only about 5 I really like on the whole album. Only gets a good rating cos I think the rest of the album is a bit slow however, its still up there in my faves cos of the memories and the songs I like are absolubtley fantastic.
