I'm always a bit cautious when buying 2nd hand lenses, but I've been told that if bought from a trusted seller, you can get a fantastic peice of kit!
I was torn between buying this lens for around £70 2nd hand or buying a brand new sony 50mm f1.4 for a lot more! I went for this as the pro's outweighed the cons by far;
The lens is so sharp - being a prime lens it has that advantage. The colours / tones it produces are so clear and crisp that is beats most of my other lenses in quality and is definately my new favourite lens.
As long as you know the lens has been taken care of, the optics are fast, crisp and clear of any fungus / mist, then you should grab yourself a really good lens.
