This is an excellent camera with all the settings to suit the expert but easy for the amateur to use as it does all the thinking for you. An outstanding 12x optical zoom makes it especially suitable for child photography and distant objects.

I have already got one of these cameras myself and I bought this one for my partner. I love it and it takes fantastic pictures, even takes great videos. I simply bought it because it is an excellent peice of kit and it does exactly what it says it does.

Camera very good, picture quality good, takes instant picture unlike my sony cyber shot which flickers and eventually takes picture after moment has gone.
camera easy to use only takes sd cards up to 1gb but recommend you use 512mb card as some 1gb cards are HC and wont work in camera, you can go online and update software but i tried and couldn't get it to go on camera.
If you want an easy to use camera that just does what it say's on the box then this is it, you have got all sorts of settings you can use but you dont have to if you just want to point and shoot.
Flash is lift up and if you forget it does auto light gain up if light level low.
Nice to use, i have gone backwards with this purchase as i had to many features on my Sony which kept trying to come in automatically and i was loosing good pictures due to camera checking all it's auto functions before taking photo.
Camera is not to big and bulky as with some other makes of digital camera and it's not to heavy to carry.

i bought this primeraly for the optical zoom feature ,i hate the cheapo false digital zoom so many cameras feature.this camera is superb ,great optics ,simple setup & feature menu etc.
the optical zoom is excelent ,unless your semi pro or into serious bird spotting etc this camera will cover all your needs ,has a superb macro feature for real close up shots.
loks like a big money camera as well .
also has a quality feel in your hand ,even the big named cameras these days feel cheap & nasty at this budget level .
only fault they have stopped making them so used is the only option

Quite a chunk of camera for the money, surprised how many various functions that it has, the close up is brillian, as you can zoom in to a grain of sugar
and it looks like a huge raw diamond, makes brilliant photos.
The landscape feature is very good. I found it easy to use, comfortable to hold, stands on the tripod for self timer, also to aleviate handshake, although the camera does this anyway.
All in all a good little camera.

I already own a Minolta Dimage Z1 digital camera so when I noticed a Konica Minolta Z3 jumped at the chance to upgrade to a newer more up todate camera. The camera is easy to use and has excellent optical zoom from 35 - 420
which is ideal for me.

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 Digital Camera
Review created: 11/01/09

I purchased this camera as an upgrade from a point and shoot.
I find it very easy to use. The zoom is great, much better than my old Optima.
I also now have the option to control shutter speed, exposure etc. which makes a big difference to the type of photographs I can now take.
It also has the advantage of continuous and progressive drive modes.
This is a good stepping stone for the beginner to upgrade to, without making it too complicated or expensive.
This camera was well priced and great value for money.

very good and simple to use camera, point and shoot system and drag and drop usb system for putting your photo's onto pc, comes with sd card so you can nip it into a asda or tesco and develop your photo's.

Really easy too use and well worth buying one.ideal starter camera with a brill photo quality.

rates 8/10

Similar in shape and size to the preceding DiMAGE Z1 and Z2 models, the Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 continues with the shrunk-down 35mm "big lens" SLR design aesthetic, although this newest model is elegantly clad in an all-black body. The DiMAGE Z3 offers many of the same excellent features and exposure options as the previous models, though now with an impressive 12x optical zoom lens and an Anti-Shake feature for reducing blurring due to camera movement in slower exposures. Maintaining the full-featured reputation of the Z1 and Z2 models, the Z3 offers full manual exposure control and a host of creative shooting options in a fairly compact, very user-friendly package. Measuring a mere 4.27 x 3.15 x 3.29 inches (108 x 80 x 83 millimeters) and weighing 16 ounces (455 grams) with the cap, batteries, and SD memory card, the DiMAGE Z3 is quite compact for such a long-zoom camera, but still a bit too chunky for a shirt pocket. It should fit into larger coat pockets, purses, and backpacks without trouble though. A neck/shoulder strap comes with the Z3, for more secure portability. Covered in solid black plastic body panels with a matte finish, the Z3's body is built around the large lens barrel. A substantial handgrip provides a solid hold, but the rest of the camera is fairly compact. A plastic lens cap protects the telescoping lens, but tethers to the camera body to prevent it from being accidentally lost. The Z3 features a 4.0-megapixel CCD, which produces high resolution images for making sharp prints as large as 11x14 inches with some cropping, as well as lower resolution images better suited for email distribution. With its range of exposure options, 12x optical zoom, and high resolution CCD, the Z3 is a versatile and capable performer.

The DiMAGE Z3 is generously equipped with a 12x, 5.83-69.9mm lens, the equivalent of a 35-420mm lens on a 35mm camera. This represents a range from a moderate wide-angle to a very substantial telephoto. This lens replaces the 38-380mm equivalent lens used on the Z2 (which, in its own right was an excellent zoom range). Maximum aperture ranges from f/2.8 to f/4.5, depending on the lens zoom setting. Focus is specified as ranging from 2.0 feet (0.6 meters) to infinity in normal mode, with a macro setting ranging from 0.3 to 8.2 feet (0.1 to 2.5 meters). There's also a Super Macro setting, which gets as close as 0.39 inches (1 centimeter) for really impressive closeups. In practice, I found that the camera would focus down to close to the "Macro" range even with the Macro option disabled, at least at the wide angle end of the zoom range. At the telephoto end of the lens' range, minimum focusing distance seemed to be about five feet, regardless of the Macro setting. Though the DiMAGE Z3 normally judges focus from a large area in the center of the frame, a Spot AF mode is also available, which determines focus from one of five possible spot-AF hotspots, arranged across the middle of the frame. To activate Spot-AF mode, press and hold down the center button of the arrow pad in any non-movie capture mode.

A VERY GOOD CAMERA - WITH ONE RESERVATION
Review created: 13/06/08
by:

Lovely to handle,
Great zoom with good anti-shake,
Decent flash,
Very quick - auto focus UNLESS its dark, in which case forget it ! it just will not focus on anything.
The Z3 would be an easy excellent without this flaw.
in daylight its superb, but not a camera for clubs, parties, and concerts.

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 Digital Camera
Review created: 09/04/08

The Konica Minolta 6.0-megapixel DiMAGE Z6 digital camera features a 12x optical Mega Zoom lens, Konica Minolta’s proprietary Anti-Shake system, Rapid AF with Predictive Focus Control for fast overall responsiveness, large 2.0-inch LCD monitor, built-in flash and excellent battery performance.
Konica Minolta’s proprietary CCD-shift Anti-Shake system — the same as that used in the top-of-the-line Maxxum 7D digital SLR, allows photographers to shoot with shutter speeds four to eight times longer (2-3 stops) than when shooting without an Anti-Shake system. The system also provides steady, shake-free images in twilight or other dimly lit situations, which are susceptible to blurring because of the slow shutter speeds used. This means significantly sharper images even without the use of a flash or tripod.
Thanks to its energy-efficient design, the DiMAGE Z6 lets users enjoy picture-taking longer with four widely available AA Alkaline batteries that power the camera for up to approximately 240 shots, as well as compatibility with high-capacity rechargeable Ni-MH batteries for up to approximately 420 shots.
To ensure that photographers don't miss a shot, the DiMAGE Z6 offers ultra-fast, accurate Rapid AF with Predictive Focus Control. Focusing in a mere 0.2 second at the wide-angle zoom position and only 0.3 second at the telephoto position, the DiMAGE Z6 is ideal for accurately capturing any subject, moving or still. In addition to high-precision Rapid AF, the DiMAGE Z6 features a fast startup time and short shutter-release lag time. In addition, the camera’s Progressive Capture drive mode records images continuously at approximately 1.8 frames per second regardless of image size or quality, and saves the last 10 frames simply by releasing the shutter button.

Having had a refurbished Konica Minolta Z3 Camera bought for me as a present a couple of years ago, I was most unhappy when it disappeared. The original had given me good service and had taken some good photos. I replaced it with a used Z3 bought via E-Bay which in the limited time since purchase is giving me the same good results as my original camera. It is simple to use and gives good results when set to 'Auto' but can be used in modes which allow greater control by the user.
