Kodak EasyShare DX6490 Digital Camera

I have had this camera now for over a year and Never had a single problem with it, the battery life is superb.. I can leave it for months and go to use it and it's ready to go, If left too long it does deteriate but is still capable of quite a few shots before warning low.. And charging only take a few hours too..

The flash is excellent, lights up the image superbly even in pitch black..

The zoom is amazing, I took a picture of a cars numberplate once at full zoom, then zoomed out to the point where you could hardly see the car!!

All round I find it an excellent camera and will never part with it..

I bought this camera at the end of November last year after owning a Kodak CX6330 for quite a few years. I wanted something to be as good as the old camera but better on close-ups. This camera surpased my expectations. It is very easy to use - believe me as i am no expert and takes absolutely brilliant photos. It puts my old camera to shame really and i wish i had bought it earlier. I took some photos of my kids the other day, and it was so clear that you could see the tiny hears on their faces - the sort of detail you would expect from a very expensive SLR camera.

The battery life is superb, i took it on holiday for over a week and the battery life icon never flashed once after over 250+ photos were taken. Plus it works with my old Kodak printer docking station to so printing photos straight off it is a breeze.

The three main points i love most about this camera is that the photo you have just taken shows up inside the looking lens so you can see it straight off (you can also see it on the very large LCD screen to if you have it on), the play back on the video settings has sound so great for playing back to people while still on the camera and the last is the functions light up on the dial so perfect for playing around in the dark.

I have no idea how old or how much use this camera had before i purchased it off ebay but it works like a dream and i would recommend it to anyone after a good quality camera thats not too heavy and needs lots of detail on their photos, perfect for selling things on ebay - especially little items.

I bought this when it was first out(5 years ago)Was worried, then, about the price.It has never let me down.Brilliant i lower light,even when i zoom in on the computor.Click and go with excellant pictures what more can you ask for.

I love this camera. In fact I bought a second one for my husband. It takes excellent pictures and is easy to use. The 10X optical zoom means faraway things become close and clear. I would recommend getting a fairly big memory card for this camera as it is so much fun you will not be able to resist taking loads of photos and, because the quality is so good, you won't want to delete any.

I checked out a few sites on the web before I bought the Kodak DX6490 and they all gave a glowing report for this camera and so with that in mind I bought this camera on eBay from Obanphotographic(top bloke)

I am very pleased with this camera as it is a huge improvement on my concord digital camera..close ups are crystal clear and the 10x optical zoom is brilliant for taking photos at distance.

I am well pleased with the camera and I would recommend it to anyone that is thinking about serious photography as opposed to just taking summer snaps..

We have been using this camera for approx 2 years for all our listing on ebay it is simple to use takes great photos both from a distance and close ups for hallmarks etc and the battery will last for ages. We only needed to buy another one as one of our guys decided to drop it off his desk.

I am very pleased with the camera it takes wonderfull
pictures and i did not realise when i bought it
it had a vidio built in so i am well pleased the only downfall
was that i had just bought a new camcorder disc one if i had
known the camera had the built in vidio recorder i could
have saved myself a bob or two
i have since bought a printer to go with the camera and found that
it prints very good quality pictures
and also the other downfall is that you cannot zoom when recording
moving objects
otherwise a very good item to purchase and not hard to use

the item was good,the ,never sent all the accessories as described,and in spite of promises still not received,so a camera without the accessories is no good

I felt it was time to get rid of my old camera and purchase a new one. I searched the internet for what I considered was the perfect camera for my needs........boy oh boy the range is vast, and they can be extremely expensive. I needed a good optical zoom of at least 10x but did not want something to bulky. I enjoy wildlife photography and have built up quite a portfolio wich i continuously update.
I opted for a Kodak DX490. I found several on ebay and consentrated on one of them. I won the auction and was delighted with the price I paid. The camera arived promptly and it was exactly as described.

The quality of photos is superb. The ease of use is amazing. I already had one that was not allowing editing on camera so i bought the same camera and gave the old one to my 6 year old son. It's that easy to use!!! I have accessories to suit the DX6490 so it made sense to continue with another.

The camera is very easy to use and takes excellent pictures.
It is light to carry around and has many features which i still have to figure out.
Kodak easy share is very easy to do online,and being able to share is great fun,all in all a brilliant buy.

The camera was like new and I am very happy. I would buy from this Seller at any time as the postage was super quick and the camera excelled my expectations.

I had been looking for a digital camera,once I saw the item in ebay I was very pleased as after negotiation I managed to buy the item at a reseanable price.
It works fine and this item came with its docking, which becomes very useful in downloading the pictures into the PC.it also has it various gadgets,like the battry charger as well as the pc conection plus its cd software and the tv conectors.

Good product, well described and arrived safely, well packaged. Price was reasonable to start the bidding with and final price acceptable for a used digital camera.

I became interested in this camera when my friends husband bought it for her when it was first released, it was around the £400 mark then. I waited until the price dropped, and have actually bought a total of three of these camera's on eBay.

Two for me, and one for my son. They are so good, that I have a spare, hence buying too, that said I have found them to be so reliable, I may not ever need the second one.

They are easy to use, the clarity of the photo's is superb and really help your eBay sales, we buy with our eyes, so the best illustration of a product is the photo.

I don't use all the features, but am over the moon with this camera, I even took photographs of birds through a glass window, the results were great, and I am no professional.

I would recommend this camera to everyone, but buy it on eBay you will get it at the best price, in my experience.

This camera is a reasonably good point and go tool. Colour results are pretty good. Its only downfall is in poor/poorish light. In movie mode poor light also causes "focus hunting" where the camera is continually blurring and sharpening.
I found the dial switch at the back slightly "tough" to turn. Otherwise it's a really handy and reliable results camera (excluding poor light)

I have had this camera about 5 years, I first saw my cousin with one. I looked at her pictures and couldn't believe the vibrant colours that it gave. It also has a video feature so you can capture those moments you didn't expect. I have recently replaced it from ebay because my son smashed the screen at the back and I couldn't find a camera that matched it. So my advice is use a camera bag! I am so used to this camera, it is easy to use and all my family can use it, which includes my husband and two sons. I have had so many beautiful pictures from this model Kodak dx6490.

great camera now available at low prices on ebay , these were originally around 250 - 300 when new but you can get these on ebay for around £40 if you bid carefully

For a number of years I have owned a DX6490. I have tried many other models of cameras, some of them supposedly far superior and certainly far more expensive, yet not, for me, have been as practical or as easy to use as the DX6490.
I have taken photo's of my son unning the surf on a Cornish beach. The photo (taken with the DX6490, even showed up, in fine detail, the droplets of water falling from his body as he ran.
It does of course have amnual settings for those who like to play around and alter this and that (shutter speeds, exposures etc etc), yet no matter how much I played around with the settings, I could never better the automatic mode of the DX6490.
A very forgiving camera when taking snaps in a hurry, just point, let the focus box turn from green to red, then click. Perfect photo's evry time.
A nice weight, it fits reassuringly into the grasp of your hand, a turn of the thumb wheel lets you select the type of object yopu are photographing ( general, panoramic, portrait etc), manual or auto flash and best of all, a massive X10 zoom on the Schneider lens.
The Li Lion battery seems to last for hours and hours between recharge and the battery either recharges by it's own wall plug charger, or automatically whilst sitting in the printer dock.
The capability of taking 6 "Rapid Snaps" in a split second produces fantastic action shots and subtle differences in expression or pose when taking portraits.
Massive LCD screen from which you can view and delete snaps.
Video and sound function which gives remarkable video quality the size of which is only limited by the internal memory or the SD memory card fitted.
When purchased in conjunction with the printer dock, the camera sits on top and at the touch of a button can print out your pictures no matter where you are in the world.
USB 2 cable which is supplied with the camera lets you down load your photo's to the computer, windows XP and vista need no additional drivers as they automatically recognise the Kodak camera's.

So in conclusion, if you are looking for a professional appearance camera which produces excellent photo's time after, is simple enough for idiots like me to use and robust enough for the most ham fisted, then you really should consider the DX6490.

There are many on ebay for sale, the majority of them are used and in excellent condition ( most people always take care of their camera's), you would have to go a long long way to find a better more practical camera than the DX6490.

I hope this review is usefull to anyone looking to purchase a camera, I write it as someone who has consistently used a DX6490 and compared it to many other makes, pound for pund, the value of the DX6490 is unbeatable.

I bought it because my daughter has one and her photos are always so sharp and clear. My previuos camera was small enough to fit in my pocket so I am sorry that this one is so big but I will put up with that for the quailty of the pictures.

its a grate shape 10x zoom which makes a big difference the editing CD really helps if you do not already have a programme good video recording and sound but it has to be daylight that is the only thing I don't like but if I wanted a video recorder I would of brought one
