King Kong (DVD)

a great movie,i saw this at the movies,i bought the dvd as it was a good price,i was disappointed that the movie makers put in on 2 discs,ok a cup of tea break,but it wasnt warrented when you have a pause button.
the ape was almost real,him on an ice rink towards the end was a wonderful sight...

Great action movie funny in parts,bad in other parts worth a watch.perfect for that Sunday afternoon when there is nothing on to watch....

When this film was in production and had not yet hit the big screen there was a mystery which surrounded it how good was this film going to be? I went to see this at the Cinema shortly after being released and the big screen was where this film belongs really! I was a little confused after noting that Jack Black was in the main cast but having followed the early films of Peter Jackson like Bad Taste it was not suprising to see why Jack Black was chosen to play this part. He is often very funny and at times very serious but he is the sort of guy that has a way of captivating you so that you listen exactly to what is being said.I must confess i did not give this film too much credit and thought it would be often boring with a lot of silly wacky scenes with some guy running around in a gorilla outfit. How wrong i was and must confess i was eating my words. However i felt that the love scenes between the actress and writer were a little silly but looking at the film as a whole you understand why this had to be.King Kong was out of this world i could not beleieve how real it he looked and those scenes where we see him running through the jungle carrying the actress in his hand were very well done.This film ranks as the best King Kong film ever made although i do not take anything away from the original black and white version as in its day this film was very frightening to those who went to watch it.Now although this film was a guy in places wearing a suit the make up and effects certainly would have you believed this was real. The 70's version with Jeff bridges i thought was brilliant but as soon as i knew it was a guy in a suit i dropped it and would never watch it again. However Peter Jackson's King Kong i have watched it many times over and over and admit it is very very good.The only thing i hate in the King Kong films is when he is shot and falls from the high buildings the second version one of the Twin Towers was the setting I really hate this scene and although i know it is only make believe i just cannot watch it i just cannot bare to see him killed and fall from the high building to his death very sad especially when it was man that brought him to the USA in the first place.
