A remake classic

I had put off and put off seeing this film because I thought it was going to be plastic monsters and Saturday morning kids stuff. How WRONG I WAS! THIS IS NOT FOR KIDDIES - take note of the rating and even then use caution if you have sensitive young souls.
The film starts out with a down and out film maker looking to make yet another 'low budget movie' in 1930's. He has an ancient map in his possession which shows the location of a secret island on which he wants to film his movie. His financiers think he is a waste of space and refuse to give him the money. I won't spoil the plot too much but he manages to con his way onto a ship with his actors and film crew and a script writer (also conned). Off they go on the voyage and the suspense starts to build.
They reach the island more by luck than anything else and this is where the film really takes off. The special effects are amazing! Your nails will be bitten, your flesh will crawl, teeth clenching, you'll hide behind the sofa (TIP-Move Kids out of the way first to make room)
KONG himself is wonderful. He is not a pretty gorilla but he is 100% gorilla. The film-makers have really done their homework and every little movement, expression, body language is pure mountain Gorilla - I am certain David Attenborough's 'Ape' film was used as an inspiration.
This film is very, very good and definitely not to be missed.
