King Kong (DVD)

As with any of Peter Jacksons films you know your in for a treat! Set in the 1930s great deprestion the story of how a film maker (Jack Black) is set on making his master peace, but with big idea and no more backing for the studio he works for Carl Denham (J.Black) set out on a last gamble to reclaim his vision.
With money in short supply, Denham hires a ship and crew that's little more than a set of cages rust worn together, he set out with a new laeding lady, Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) A out of work theatre actress trying to find her break in life along side a the writer of Denham's masterpiece Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody) who is caught short when they set off to seek the last spot on the map, skull island.

This one of the finer remakes, when great attention to detail and a nice balance between special effects and the big monkey. With the film running in to 187 mins the story is pushed abit too far, with the final half hour the setting of the end is drawn out, there is no new twist, with the final stage once again on the top of the empire state building, the fight with Kong and the planes is dose with good timing and is worth seeing again.

On the second disc you find a lot more than you would expect, with full production diaries and a closer look at how they make the sets, monsters and or course Kong himself, you can enjoy how they put this masterpiece together.

Some words are used in everyday life, the words King Kong however have a different meaning.
They mean something much more than the film 'King Kong'. King Kong is a national icon, he is the 8th wonder of the world.

And having watched this film I can see why.

Ulitmate effects are awash in this film, with magnificent special effects playing as vital role. Bugs come into it, so the squirmish have time to make a cuppa.

Overall words cannot ephasize how magnificently brilliant this film actually is.

For me personnaly i was looking forward to watching this film, i loved the first one and i wanted to see how they handled making this one if it would be better or worse, i must admit its a great retake of the film, great effects, great acting and just as hearwrenching than the first one when Kong dies, its so upsetting!, If i was me and i wanted something for a family night in then i would choose this one, great for all the family and an all time classic. Id definatly recommend this, Peter Jacksons done a great job with this film no doubt really he did Lord of the Rings i wouldnt expect anything less.

This movie is a visual treat. Peter Jackson is a director who seems to excell in detailed, complex mosaic pictures - the kind of films you can watch several times and spot something different each time you see it. He showed this to great effect in the Lord of the Rings films and it is in much evidence here. The re-creation of 1930's New York is exquisite, the CGI Kong is amazing and the finale at the top of the Empire State Building actually gave me vertigo watching it.

This is a fantastic box set that includes all the production diaries that were featured on the 'Kong is King' web site. When watched as a whole set, you get hours of detail that covers the effort that was required in bringing the story to the modern screen. You also get a sense of the reverence that Jackson has for the original film. The appearance of the original armiture of the Kong stop-motion model is a highlight in the production.

If you are a fan of the movie, a fan of the original movie or just interested in how a modern motion picture is put together - this box-set provides you with all this.

i was really looking forward to watching king kong. i wanted to go to the cinema to see it unfortunatly i did not get there to see it. but i finaly watched it on friday. it takes quiet a while to get into it but when king kong comew into it it picks up. when he dies it is so sad you know he will. but yes i recommend to anyone my age (14) it was amazing. thanks

Great film, I was really looking forward to seeing the extended edition and the special additions, shame the seller couldnt be bothered to post it.

The boxset itself is pretty good with the extended edition of the movie and loads of bonus features. The problem is the movie. Whilst there is much to admire in the film, some parts are pretty silly and it is much too long, even in the original version let alone the extended one.
As with many modern film the special effects and action scenes are very well realised. Kong looks great etc, etc... There is a big name cast who all perform well enough as you would expect.
The problem for me is that the film just goes on for too long and the part of the film that takes part on the island, after they have encountered kong is totally unnecessary. There is one scene where a guy is covered in bugs and the hero, who is not used to guns, shoots them all off with a machine gun (or some such weapon). This scene is quite ludicrous, (I know it isn' meant to be taken seriously, but it's just silly). They could easily have taken some of these island sequences out and it wouldn't have harmed the film at all.
I would say that this is a film you should rent out first before you decide to buy as many of my friends who saw it were bored by it. I wasn't but I can quite understand why they were.

bought the movie for my twin boys they are only three and they loved it. they got so into it they was in tears at the end.

Good remake of a classic movie.
Special effects/computer generated graphics brought the movie up to date.

Missed the atmosphere of a cinema presentation, but with surround sound it gets close.

i have been looking for ages for this video, i collect old titles and love to watch them over. this one is very good

the seller of this dvd let me know that it might not play on my region so refunded my money right away with no problems which i thought was nice and not senting it first.

This was a really brilliant film. It was a breath of fresh air. The effects and the locations where stunning. This film is a real family blockbuster. The 3 hours of pure entertainment. First Class.

Where do you start with a film of this calibur it was fantastic action, gross and romantic it is a good family film

King Knog was very good indeed. I bought the film as my daughter had seen the film at the cinema and enjoyed it so I thought it was worth having a copy on DVD.

quality cheaper than the shops and it was fun browsing through ebay and have got no dislikes. and i refuse to pay 14.99 plus for any dvd

My children and myself of course could not wait to see this great film.

I had heard great things about king kong so I bought it on ebay. It seemed to be a good buy a couple of pounds cheaper than in the shops. Unfortunately when it arrived it would not play properly. the sound was not right. I emailed and the man said that can't be true, because i have sold 200 of these copies. I said copies? I thought they were real? and I didn't hear back. I looked at his feedback properly and he has lots of negatives and neutrals of people unhappy with his dvds. My dvd is not the right colour as my others, and it smells very strange (like burnt smell) I think I unwittingly bought a copy (two from him, the constant gardener too) he would not help, and despite me paying him the same day I bought them, he left me negative and neutral feedback. When I complained I had paid the same day and did not deserve bad feedback, he said he had done it in an effort to get me to remove his bad feedback and started a mutual remove bad feedbacks. I refused to oblige, as he DESERVES his negative feedback for selling me dodgy dvds and then not being willing to replace them or offer refund. Nighmare to deal with, it has put me off buying on ebay for the time being.
Sorry this is not a wow, brilliant buy, but look at my feedback and then his, and see what has happened :(

With modern technology King Kong came alive in parts, and had real shots of gorillas cleverly edited in.The beginning 30 minutes were very slow but the rest more than made up for it.Definately one to get and watch again and again.
For me it was 4.5 out of 5. Buy it now.

I purchased the DVD because my daughter wanted it and nagged me for it, she actually bid on two of the King Kong dvd's not thinking that she would win both but did, so being an honest ebayer I bought two.
The film is a great action adventure, packed with lots of thrilling action and edge of the seat moments, it can be quite scary but not rude or obscene (swearing)that would stop the whole family watching.

l liked all of it.great schenary,acting and story.ebayer was easy to deal with.technically the film was very advancd

Wot a brilliant film. I found the first 45 mins quite slow and was on the verge of turning off the dvd and then it just livened up for the better. I was gripped to the edge of my seat and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the film (bar the first 45 mins of course). It truly is an excellent love story and I found the film very touching. At the end I cried when King Kong met his end. Marvellous x
