a wonderful movie... The works of a good man, father, and lawyer as seen through the eyes of children. So much needed in this day and age. One of the best family movies of all time.

Bought the DVD as a study aid for my son. Great addition to the library. Helps to focus you on how the book jumps from one place in time to another. A great overview and well worth the money. Gregory Peck gives a top-class portrayal of Atticus and a good film for the whole family - excellent dinner-table discussions resulting!

'To kill a Mockingbird' Film DVD
) Is a Classic Movie Starring the Flawless ' Gregory Peck'. Magnificent performance by him as well as the rest of the Cast. The film is set in America's Deep South where a black man is on trial for rape and murder. Mr Peck agrees to represent him the result of which is causes imtimidation tactics,violence and Racism against black and white alike. Well worth a viewing.

) This is a book we read at school and I always remember it as it made a lasting impression on me. So 20 years on I watched the film to remind myself. It really is a great film, true to the book. Fantastic acting. A simple but moving story.
Highly recommend to all, it's on the 'must see' list.

I like the general theme of the story, the actors(actresses)fitted the roles particularly well. It was an enjoyable and gripping film, however Harper lee sets high standards and the film, i felt skipped out vital parts which enhanced on the tale. Perhaps too much happens in the tale to fit into such a short time space, so it feels both a long-winded and rushed film; i''d reccomend the book.

I had read the book at school, which I had enjoyed, and saw it again many years later in a book shop. I was intriqued to see if it it still had the same appeal.
I knew that Peck described this as his favourite film, and I wanted to see if my minds eye was comparable to the film director, hence why I bought it.
The problem with most films, it just does not compete with the book. Some chapters in the book that I considered essential were just not in the film, so I would really suggest that you buy the book instead.
Having said that, the DVD was enjoyable, and I do not regret purchasing it.
I knew that Peck described this as his favourite film, and I wanted to see if my minds eye was comparable to the film director, hence why I bought it.

"To Kill" a good story!!!!!!!!!!I had read the book and was told that it was a "Classic" so searched out the film. What a big big mistake. I wish that i'd not read the book beforehand, and then i'd have nothing to complain about! My other half was oblivious to why i moaned all the way through. Absolutely Loads of scenes had been deleted out of the film, or were put across in a different way to how it happened in the book that i was bitterly dissappointed, so much so that i'm tempted to re sell it on Ebay!

This is the original black and white version of a fantastic novel which looks at an American one parent family during the depression.
Atticus Finch is a Lawyer who is representing a Black man which at the time is a controversial and risky thing to do.
Jem and Scout are his children who are learning the ways of the world from their fathers example as their mother has died.
The children are naive and un-provoked to the racial tension and hatred and dont understand why their father is causing a stir by representing Mr Tom Robinson, as he is innocent. (they see no problem with races)
This is a fabulously thought provoking film with a real tear-jerking element. A must see.

this film is authentic to the book.The cast were well chosen, particularly Gregory Peck,who seemed made for the part of Atticus Finch.
The suspense was maintained and with the film being made from the childs point of view,was thrilling and scary together.It also made a clear statement about life in the thirties in the deep south states of America,the bigotry and mistrust between the townsfolk.It was able to capture the essence of the book for that time.It was good to see the children face their unseen fears and still see the good in people,how they managed to face down the mob outside the jail without any violence or rage.A very enjoyable and watchable film for all ages.
