Kid Galahad (DVD 2003)

One of the King's most underrated film. Not a masterpiece but of great value when compared with the pitiful side of his last ten years ( Elvis arabian style in I don't remember what nauseous production : "Gentlemen, thats the straw !" would have remarked Groucho) Very interesting too for the second level actors among which Gloria Grahame and...Charles Bronson ! Excellent sound track by the way !

Here Elvis plays a rather humble character with a strong sense of moral values, a heart of gold but with fists of steel! It has a good story line and the film is greatly enhanced by the likes of Gig Young and Charles Bronson. I would never normally watch a film about boxing but Elvis draws me in every time! This is a decent film though, and a cut above many other Elvis offerings. The scenery is nice too and the songs, though hardly ground breaking, are pretty good.

This is a great Elvis film and well worth the watch, he never really made many like these and not all his films are watchable in the sense that they are quite bad story lines. Kid Galahad on the other hand is hard hitting and stars a few good actors including Charles Bronson and deserves a hand for being not a run of the mill Elvis film.
