  The one before Dookie...
Review created: 03/04/07

I decided to buy this album because I bought Dookie when it first came out, fell in love with it but never bothered getting either of the two earlier releases. I then subsequently bought all of their albums, seeing them go from snotty underground million selling punkers (Dookie),through to comedy punks whose joke had worn thin (Insomniac), to serious artists (Nimrod & Warning) and then to darlings of the media with the unstoppable American Idiot. All the way through they have been a power trio with attitude, melody and style. The harmonies are tremendous and you could do Green Day covers in any style of music. The quality of the tunes is superb. I joined a punk band at the age of 34 because of Green Day and specifically Mr. Cool, having never played in a band before.
Basically I've loved them since I first heard them (I'm now 36) and this album is exactly what I expected- a less polished punk album full of singalong tunes and attitude. I would give it 3.5 out of 5 ideally, what lets it down is the poor version of My Generation. YOU DON'T DO THE WHO!
If you haven't got it, you should get it!
