I'VE ALWAYS HEARD THAT KENWOOD MAKE FINE IN CAR STEREOS,ASWELL AS THE BEST FOOD MIXER IN THE WORLD,SO I DECIDED TO TRY THIS THE KDC237SA SINGLE CD PLAYER OUT.
ITS A BUDGET VERSION THAT RETAILS FOR ABOUT 60-70 POUNDS.
AND FOR THAT YOU HAVE EXCELLENT SOUND QUALITY,FAR BETTER THAN I EXPECTED FOR THE PRICE,GOOD LOOKS WITHOUT BEING TOO FLASHY,IT'S ALSO QUITE EASY TO USE,AND REASONABLY POWERFUL,AND THERE ARE ENOUGH FUNCTIONS,INCLUDING AN AUXILLIARY INPUT FOR MP3'S,I CAN'T REALLY COMMENT ON THE BUILD QUALITY AS IM NOT AN EXPERT,BUT IT'S AS GOOD AS,IF NOT BETTER THAN SONY STEREOS I'VE HAD BEFORE.

This is a great little stereo, it lacks a lot of the more modern features but everything it does have is done very well and is packed full of extra little options that make it stand out as a quality unit. Its loud (22rms watts per channel I think)for a head unit, has a 3 band eq with 2 additional levels of bass boost, and even has different output profiles depending on what speakers you intend to use. The front aux input is also a great boon and negates the need to buy expensive "ipod" leads.

On the downside is the obvious lack of more modern features such as MP3 cd playback and a full eq, although both of these can be overcome with a decent external MP3 player. Additionally the controls are a bit counter-intuitive, a problem compounded by the fact that the manual is rather poorly written. It also falls into the "car audio watts" trap by advertising itself as outputting "4x45w" Rather daft considering the unit only draws 10 amps.

All in all this is a very good unit and id recommend it to anyone on a budget.

only had a radio cassette player in my car, so when i had to have a ,new battery for my car and lost my code, thought it was time to up date and be able to play cd's. The sound is out standing and lights up a trendy colour. Very pleased with it and delivery was fast.

this is an excellent unit and i would recommend this for anyone wishing to up grade. it was very easy to fit with the supplied fitting kit and a joy to listen to.

HAVING A KENWOOD CD PLAYER IN MY CAR WHEN I BOUGHT IT I DECIDED THAT AS IT HAD SEEN BETTER DAYS I SHOULD REPLACE IT. KENWOOD SEEMED THE OBVIOUS CHOICE, QUALITY PRODUCTS & VERY POPULAR. WHERE TO BUY? WHY EBAY OF COURSE. I STARTED A SEARCH & SOON FOUND A RETAILER THAT HAD SOME VERY GOOD DEALS. I BOUGHT ONE IMMEDIATLY, IT CAME THE NEXT DAY. THE WHOLE FAMILY WERE IMPRESSED WITH THE QUALITY FOR THE PRICE, SO MUCH SO THAT MY SON BOUGHT ONE. IN CLOSING I WOULD SAY ANYBODY THINGING OF BUYING IN CAR ENTERTAINMENT SHOULD AT LEAST CONSIDER KENWOOD.

Super piece of kit, bought it for my girlfriend so she can plug her mp3 player straight into it. Has an industry standard ISO lead so fitting in took minutes. Setup was easy and sounds great too.

A nice looking player with good bright display and mostly easy to use controls. Volume knob also doubles for various other functions when pressed even very lightly, sometimes making it very difficult to set volume on anything but a flat level surface. It is though in my opinion, a very good system with lots of extra functions that I'll probably never use! Very easy to fit.

I bought this item for my wife, she had just passed her driving test and i had got her a new car, but it needed a stereo. I found this item on ebay and thought not only was it good value for money it was also top quality.
The stereo arrived in excellent time from the seller and it plugged straight into my wifes car.
She also found the soft carry pouch for the face very good as it fits in her handbag much better than the usual bulky plastic ones you normally get as standard.
All round fantastic item and would recommend it to anyone.

I like about this product its ease of use and that its a good temporary deck for me but its good for people who just want the radio or occasional cd.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my Dad who's desperately behind the times (he's still listening to cassettes!). Thoroughly sick of hearing Celine Dion (the only cassette he actually owns) i decided to bring him into the 21st century. As i was unsure of how often he would actually listen to a CD i chose this stereo as it was reasonably priced for a well known reputable brand name.

I bought this CD player for £30 into my small 306, and for this much money, it's suberb. It was delivered within few days too.

as you would expect from a kenwood the sound is clear with a good depth.the radio gives very good reception and its search is precise,cant fault its performance.only minus is the awkward controlls and the hard to read display when sunny

Likes - sound, options, audio in, wiring options, look, removable fascia..

Dislikes - erm... ahhh... sometimes press wrong button while driving... and I'm struggling to think of anything else...

I bought this because it has the facility to plug in an MP3 player and most importantly, because it was the right price! I'm very pleased with it.

i bought it as a gift for a friend, it was perfect had no probelems with it, my only dislike was that it was red.

I have just had this jkenwood player fitted by my cousin, he has the same one too, however both of us are having problems with a radio reception, we cant pick up any stations. anybody else had this problem or know how to rectify?

good system but the volume button is very sensitive and it goes to change the sound settings to easy when you try and adjust the volume, good apart from that.

As well as being able to pick up local, national and welsh(!) stations my previous OEM stereo couldn't, the CD player hardly skips (despite the world or ever increasing speed-bumps - although unexpexted pot-holes predictably jump play for a second, but nothing irritating), and the extra addition of an auxiliary-in really makes your choice worthwhile.

The preset equalizer settings are more than sufficient, the customization of certain functions on the stereo are a good addition (display dimmer / aux-in funtion turn-off) and with three FM bands plus the MW band there's plenty of choice if you're sick of the same set of CDs in the car.

There is a Traffic Information function which will work very well so long as you have good local/national stations tuned-in to the radio. I tried it before tuning all the presets in and it would pause a CD but there'd be no broadcast. However, as soon as I sorted the stations out it worked well.

Two irks I have about the CD player are that there is no CD-Text (which is merely a geeky requirement) and also that when the CD comes to the last track it automatically plays again from the beginning. I'd rather it stopped and turned-on to the radio. Again, perhaps this is a geeky request - I'm a stickler for wanting to listen to an album as-is, without interruption or repeats. (And maybe you can change this function? I haven't discovered how yet though).

If we're being picky then I'd also say that it's impossible to customize the stereo and use all the functions without reading the instructions. Certian buttons can mean three different things depending on which mode you are in, so patience with an instruction book is essential.

However, once it's in and on and you're on the road there's absolutely no problem with it. The LED lights aren't too brash and buttons (once you know which one's which) are easy to access whilst driving.

Like the title says, a great starting point for the penny-pincher whose only faults might be picked-up by the perhaps a little bit anal!
