Kenwood FP470 5.5 Cups Food Processor

This food processor was bought to replace an ancient Kenwood inherited from by mother, at least 30 years old, worked excellently all this time but unfortunately now has a crack in the bowl. This new processor looks the part and in addition to cutting, slicing and shredding, I now have a much desired citrus juicer, egg whisk and jug processor. In comparison with my old one, there is less speed control and it seems slightly less sturdy but I still love it. I haven't used the shredding/slicing plate yet as I have found the instructions unclear. There is one plate for slicing coarse shredding and fine shredding (my old model had three separate plates) and I'm not sure how to select which part of the plate is to be used. Hopefully all will become clear when I use it.
