Ken Dodd - Happiness (The Very Best Of Ken Dodd) (CD 2001)

I remember going to see Ken Dodd in Blackpool on a few occasions in the 1960's as my Mum & Dad and I went there on holiday every year for a number of years. They were great times. The tower, the circus, the waxworks, the pleasure beach, hot dogs, candy floss - everything that made Blackpool a great place. We always booked tickets for a few shows and over the years we saw many stars of the 60's - Cliff Richard, Frank Ifield, Charlie Drake, Arthur Askey, Ted Rodger, Hilda Baker and Cilla Black are only a few of the names that come to mind. However mention Blackpool and the first name I always think of is Ken Dodd. Mostly, I admit, for the comedy - what a comedian!! You certainly got your moneys worth from Doddy - and more. We all loved him, his hair, his teeth and his sheer mad genius. We loved his tattifalarious language, the Diddy men, Knotty Ash and the Jam Buttie mines. He was also a lovely man to meet. More than once I waited and got his autograph!
However something else that Doddy became more and more well known for was his singing. You could spend an hour roaring in laughter at his madcap comedy and then suddenly you would be listening to this lovely rich voice as he sang with such feeling and expression. As with his comedy he put everything into his singing. Most folk can identify that wonderful song 'Happiness' with Doddy. It was a 'fun' song but he sang a lot more than that.
Songs like 'Tears', 'Promises' and 'The River' are only a few of the many beautiful songs on this CD.
So if you only think of Doddy as a great comedian - then think again!
If you enjoy easy listening, romantic ballads then I would recommend you sit back, relax and enjoy the singing voice of Ken Dodd.

This cd that i won was something that I did not think I would be able to buy in a shop. I saved time looking on e-bay and got the product I wanted, fast, and streight to the point in what I wanted, no problems at all.

The cd was excellent, and will spend many a hour listening to this.

Ken Dodd may play the funny man but to hear him sing is something special. Just sit back one evening when you are on your own,close your eyes and listen to every word of these love songs.A great CD.I bought it because it brings back good memories.

i bought this cd because i have the LP and wanted to play it in the car. i can now listen to it anywhere .
there is nothing i dislike about it. i especialy like so deep is the night. it is sung with great feeling. i would recommend this cd to anyone who likes songs sung well.

we brought the cd because of ken dodd live tour, and the way he sings the songs , its great listening to someone who can sing with feeling in his voice , he did have number ones in the 60's.

If you are are a fan of Ken Dodd, this is the album for you, my friend is a lifelong fan, so I bought it for him, and he informs me it is a fantastic album, the best of Ken Dodd on 1 CD, all of his favourites in one place. Highly Recommended.

This is a very good feel good CD. Everything you would expect from Ken Dodd, I could listen to it all day.

I bought the CD because I particulary wanted some of the tracks in creating an accompaniment for a Freestyle Horse-riding to Music competition.

I have a disability that makes internet shopping of any sort appealing so used Ebay for ease in tracing the specific CD I wanted. Paypal purchasing is also simple and secure, which I value.

I am a regular Ebay purchaser but only for items I have already identified as requirements and not for impulse buying. I consider it important to know exactly what criteria the product concerned should meet and set a price limit that I enter as my initial bid and beyond which I do not go. Consequently I have not been disappointed and feel I have always had good value - sometimes exceptionally good value!

To a lesser extent I have sold on Ebay, with realistic expectations, and have been entirely happy with the outcomes.

I find the vast majority of Ebay traders are as honest as I try to be myself so feel that I can accept their detailed descriptions of items as accurate and rely on their acceptance of my descriptions as reasonable.

For me it is a very good way of obtaining specialist items that might otherwise be difficult to find, that might need ordering or might incur significant travelling to source. We live in a small town so do not have easy access to specialist outlets.

I can reccommend Ebay shopping strongly to people in similar situations to my own or with limited time for finding the exact products they need.

In my oppinion Ken Dodd is fantastic. To be a great comedian as well as a great singer is an excellent achievement. His voice is soothing and this CD is first rate.I would recommend it to any romantic fool such as me.I have not been able to see him live but have followed his career from the sixties; now to have his music on CD is just what I need.Thanks to Badlands.

I was watching tv while browsing ebay and ken dodd was on, I thought to myself I havent heard any of his music since I was a child and just looked to see what ebay had on offer, and hey presto buy it now and it was mine....For what I paid to have it delivered to my door, no complaints whatsoever...
