My first Kate Bush Album

I bought this album when my wife was pregnant with our daughter. I thought Kate Bush would be very maternal and soothing for us both!
In fact I guess I bought it mainly for the most famous track on it “This Woman's Work.” That song of course is a childbirth classic and very much worth having in any collection.
As for the rest, some tracks are dated now, especially the one about her personal computer (you kind of wonder what it was that kept her up all night probably an Amstrad CPC with a green screen!) There are the typical hints at Romanticism which this album helped to define about Bush’s style and of course the title track which is an adaption of part of Ulysses by James Joyce
Other songs work less well and are more irritating than whimsical mixing early 90's electronica with her naturally distinctive vocals. This can bury the clever word play and make it sound all a bit samey at times. Overall though, very easy on the ear with some thought provoking lyrics, I would buy another Kate Bush album especially if I could find some cheap second hand ones.
