Emerging in an era rife with New Wave rip-off artists, the Kaiser Chiefs ran the risk of their sharp suits, angular haircuts, and early-1980s influences being taken the wrong way. While many of their peers shamelessly aped the most obvious aspects of the Cure, New Order, et al, Kaiser Chiefs (the name comes from a motorcycle) much more subtly incorporated the sensibilities of their influences. Though one can hear traces of everything from Madness to XTC and Adam & the Ants on the Chiefs 2005 debut album, EMPLOYMENT, these Brits are no one's slavish imitators. Their undeniably catchy melodies, sarcastically witty lyrics, and often-sophisticated song structures bespeak a band that has developed its own style. Thus, the record finds Kaiser Chiefs standing head and shoulders above the mid-2000s neo-New Wave pack, brimming with energy, smarts, and promise.

excellent driving album- Everyday I love you less and less and I predit a riot are worth buying this album for alone! the other tracks are a bonus

Employment the debut album from 5 piece leeds based band kaiser chiefs avaliable on 'Standard CD' 'Luxury Vinyl' and 'Table Top Boxed Edition' which comes with a bonus CD of live material, a poster, booklet plus more. shows that a band named after a south afircan football team can produce some truly great tracks, the album includes the songs you all know and love Oh My God, Everyday I Love You Less & Less, I Predict A Riot & latest release Modern Way, Born To Be A Dancer has a russian/Baltic feel to it, Saturday Night features Graham Coxon of Blur's motor bike while What Did I Ever Give You is a Ska style track and Team Mate Sounds like a fun cheesey song you'd hear in a cabaret club. other tracks Na Na Na Na Naa, You Can Have It All, time Honoured Tradition & Caroline Yes prove this album is well woth the money no matter which format you buy it in. The bonus CD included with 'The Table top Boxed Edition' includes Kaiser Chiefs performing live renditions of 5 of thier own songs featured on the album plus Hard Times Send Me which doesnt feature. I love this album and i'm sure many others will do to
