Kaiser Chiefs - Employment must hear album

Employment the debut album from 5 piece leeds based band kaiser chiefs avaliable on 'Standard CD' 'Luxury Vinyl' and 'Table Top Boxed Edition' which comes with a bonus CD of live material, a poster, booklet plus more. shows that a band named after a south afircan football team can produce some truly great tracks, the album includes the songs you all know and love Oh My God, Everyday I Love You Less & Less, I Predict A Riot & latest release Modern Way, Born To Be A Dancer has a russian/Baltic feel to it, Saturday Night features Graham Coxon of Blur's motor bike while What Did I Ever Give You is a Ska style track and Team Mate Sounds like a fun cheesey song you'd hear in a cabaret club. other tracks Na Na Na Na Naa, You Can Have It All, time Honoured Tradition & Caroline Yes prove this album is well woth the money no matter which format you buy it in. The bonus CD included with 'The Table top Boxed Edition' includes Kaiser Chiefs performing live renditions of 5 of thier own songs featured on the album plus Hard Times Send Me which doesnt feature. I love this album and i'm sure many others will do to

  down and dirty..............treat?
Review created: 28/02/07
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This really is down and dirty, grab em by the balls and don't let go, rock and roll. This is a fantastic album and the boys are getting their rightful rewards for producing it. If you haven't heard it yet, you're wrong, well partly - you must certainly have heard clips as so many are used on TV for trailers or articles within programmes. (Not to mention the various karaoke versions Phil Jupitus delivered on 'Never mind the buzzcocks'.) These Leeds boys really know how to rock and that songs have to start with terrific music, not scrag end stuff that can be fixed in the mix! Kaiser Chief will be massive. Get in now, so in years to come you can say you were there from the beginning.

Possibly the best album of the year. Full of great tracks, worth whatever you pay for it. I Predict a riot, Nanananana and O My God are the best three on the album, I'd buy it just for them.

  I predict an amazing CD!

It's funny how some people seem to automatically classify commercial success with mediocrity and want to put it down. I bought the Kaiser Chiefs album last year and found it to be a refreshing breath of air. Clever lyrics that somebody has actually thought about ("Watching the people get lairy",one of the best opening lines ever!) catchy choruses and yes they can be viewed as repetitive but you can't get them out of your head and I bet they're great to sing along to live (I'll find out in April at Ally Pally).
"Below par and mediocre" maybe they said that about The Small Faces and Madness, there are certainly greater similarities there than with Britpop. Probably accounts for their wide appeal.

Kaisers actually look like they enjoy what they are doing and believe in their music, and have all paid their musical dues if you know anything about them, I look forward to their next offering.

Oh and I'm neither a little boy or a teenage girl in fact I'm a musician who has been playing for some 30 years with broad musical taste from Holst to Hendrix .So obviously their appeal is wider than you think.

Go buy it and judge for yourself.

After all a review is just one person's opinion!

Normally, this is not my type of music, but on listening to this album, I was hooked. Not only by the well known titles, such as "I predict a riot", "Na Na Na Na Na", but by the vast majority of the other tracks on the CD.
It is a truly fantastic album - a true credit to the lads from Leeds, and to the British Music industry as a whole!

This is good album, I normally don't like this style of music, BUT the singles tempted me in, however they are the best tracks on here by some way!

What a great CD, debut Album!!

This album is just excellent, nearly every one of the album tracks is a track that could be released as a single. It is just an amazing CD.

You will love their music, you may have heard their hits like "Oh My God" and "Everyday I Love you less and less" also most recently "Modern Way", but along with these are many other great, and catchy songs such as "I predict a riot", "Saturday night" ando ne of my favourites, if not my favourite "Time Homoured tradition"

Definatley worth a buy, and especially as you can get their CD pretty cheap now

TRACKS -
1. Everyday I Love You Less and Less
2. I Predict A Riot
3. Modern Way
4. Na Na Na Na Naa
5. You Can Have It All
6. Oh My God
7. Born To Be A Dancer
8. Saturday Night
9. What Did I Ever Give You?
10. Time Honoured Tradition
11. Caroline, Yes
12. Team Mate

GO ON AND BID FOR IT NOW!!

WHY NO MERCURY PRIZE? ITS A TRAVESTY!
Review created: 31/03/06

TRUELY A MAGNIFICENT DEBUT ALBUM. KAISER CHEIFS ARE ORIGINAL BUT ALSO REMINISCENT OF THE GIANTS OF YESTER YEAR - PUNK INFLUENCED BANDS. I CHALLENGE ANYONE NOT TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS UNIQUE ALBUM, VERY CATCHY WITHOUT THE EMBARRASEMENT OF LISTENING TO A CHEESEY BAND. THE KAISER CHEIFS [EMPLOYMENT] WILL GIVE ANYONE WHO NEEDS IT, THAT COOL FACTOR. WHY OH WHY DID THESE GUYS NOT RECEIVE THE MERCURY MUSIC AWARD? WHO THE HELL WAS THE TRANSVESTITE WHO WALKED AWAY WITH IT.

What can I say? An absoloutely fantastic album, one of the best of 2005 - you can see why this won three awards at the Brit Awards 2006. This will delight any Indie/Rock fans, but will also entice also entice newcomers who have never even heard of the Kaiser Cheifs. Perhaps some people (like they have already mentioned) might need to get used to this album, but it's upbeat (and at times I even found humourous)tone will soon come to charm this. Even as I listen to "Employment" today, it still does not fail to physically put a smile on my face. Employment must-have album, you will NOT be dissapointed, especially for the bargain price you can buy it at.

Top picks are:
I predict a Riot
Oh my God
Everyday I love you less and less
Modern Way
Na Na Na Na Naa

I bought this as my son like this band and we like similar music. Not sure they do it for me though. Some tracks are good so not totally dissappointed or anything it won't get played as often as other cds but still pleased to have it.

Kaiser chiefs make a good first impression with their debut album 'employment.' Apart from one or two songs all of the tunes are catchy and get stuck in your head and the lyrics are written well.
