Joe Lynn Turner - Second Hand Life (Deluxe Edition) (CD 2007)

After the break up of RAINBOW, JLT has bestowed some excellents albums like the 2 cover albums, the HTP albums, the DEEP PURPLE album and several with others collaborators or by his own, every which of them deserve at least a hearing because he writes and sings some great AOR music of today. I wonder why he can not put another hit in the radio or tv(only the partially successfull album of Deep Purple in the 90´s).

He is only remembered in America or Europe by his participation on Rainbow and continues exploiting his legacy like in the recently live album in which almost every song is from his Rainbow days and barely plays the great tunes he haves; or in his new group OVER THE RAINBOW with other ex-members of the group and the son of Ritchie Blackmore in lead guitar who made a successfull tour in Eastern Europe and Japan where they are rock stars.

But let´s talk about this album "Second Hand Life", the edition that I have possessed is the Deluxe Edition that contains 13 tracks(the 10 original songs and 3 bonus tracks), in this occasion is accompanied by Karl Cochran in guitars, Bob Held in bass guitar, Michael Cartellone in drums and Gary Corbett in keyboards; 12 songs were co-written by JLT, Cochran, Held, Jim Peterik among others and 1 is written by Martin Briley the great "Got Me Where You Want Me", other excellents songs are "Your Love Is Life", "Second Hand Life", "Blood Red Sky" and "Stroke Of Midnight", this last song were co-written by JLT, Ritchie Blackmore and Roger Glover, but is not a new tune never listened before, is a reelaboration of "One Man´s Meat" of the Deep Purple album "The Battle Rages On"; an album JLT recorded but never was released instead they recorded new vocals and add new lyrics with the return of Ian Gillan, I hope one day they released this tracks because according to Blackmore the tracks with JLT were better and more powerfull.

So I hope that more people discover or rediscover the great talent of Mr. Joe Lynn Turner one of the best singers of the quality Adult Oriented Rock.
