Joby Talbot - Once Around The Sun (CD 2005)
Having liked a lot of Jobys' previous work (with Divine Comedy and other tv & films scores) i was keen to listen to this album. At present i have only listened to it once through but will certainly be listening again. The style is more films score / contempory than traditional classical music, and there tends to be more repetative themes than obvious melodies. The album is perfect as a chillout CD and great for unwinding after a days work. The orchestration is limited to a handful of instruments but the end result is not at all 'thinned out'. There is some beautiful playing with some tracks concentrating on showcasing specific instruments. Overall a great classical collection which i'm sure i will listen to again and again . . . . . .
