No other amplifier can come close. Although many people think 1000w RMS doesn't seem to much, it will out perform any amplifier if its 1000w RMS or even 3000w RMS. Belive me, this is one amplifier you must own. I am a collector of audio equipment and this was snapped up straight away by me. When it was first released, they were sold out worldwide within a week. This is a must have peice of equipment. Its almost 5 years old and its still better than pretty much all amplifiers produced today. Review ID: 10000000004031547 Was this review helpful? Report this review Reviews Review created: 27/03/08 by: I have this amp on a JL 12w7, this thing has so much juice you could easily runn 2 off it. this amp is very efficiant. compared to the DLS that i used to own it does not need a dual powersupply to work at its maximum potential and furthermore it will put out 1000w rms even if you put a 4ohm load onto it. Yess the DLS did runn down to 1ohm but most common set up's for a 1ohm config is dual 2ohms. this is what i had before the w7 (2x 500wrms dual 4ohm woofers) but when i switched amps to the 1000/1 i found that the SQ improved, this may be because i re wired the subs and was running it at 40hms (the dls only ran 500rms @ 4ohms) the JL was just as loud if not louder (either the JL's are heavily under rated or the DLS didn't get enough juice as it was only running of one power supply's at the time as the 2nd one went to power my amp for the components) buying new it is a bit expensive, but what you pay for is what you get and for the price, you are getting a hell of a lot of technology, R&D! if you are running anywhere between 2-4ohms and need 1000w rms.. then id definitely go for this. if you are running 1oms, reconfigure it to 4 and run the 1000/1 or if you are using the DLS, do run the dual 4awg that it requires and upgrade your power supply as it can draw upto 140A (currently running the 1000/1 of a 80A fuse with no problems) DLS are excellent and i'm not saying that they cant hold there own but i would pick the JL for the reasons above. Jl Audio 1000/1 amp to me drains to much battery power for the output it produces which is strange for a class D My choice of expensive class amp is: The DLS A6 Ultimate mono that produces 1200RMS @ 1ohm the European A/B class sound quality easily surpasses the 1000/1 for SQ.
