The 2-CD compilation VOODOO CHILD: THE JIMI HENDRIX COLLECTION contains both original studio recordings and rare alternate takes as well as many previously unavailable live performances recorded at various venues between 1967 and 1970. Other featured nuggets include an impromptu, energetic cover of Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode," and Hendrix's requisite incendiary deconstruction of the "Star Spangled Banner" played in the early morning hours of Woodstock. All this makes VOODOO CHILD essential for fans of musical innovation.
