Best TV drama of all time?

I was captivated by the original 15 part serial of Jewel in the Crown, way back in 1982. I watched the whole series when it was repeated some years later, and when I saw it was avaailble on DVD, I grabbed a copy and have just watched it again.
In my opinion, this dramatisation of Paul Scott's story of the British in India, in particular, the last days of the Raj, is the best drama production ever made for TV, and would rival any film for sheer entertainment value.
Starting with an excellent storyline, the producers put together an first-rate cast, and obviously spared nothing in the filming to make it authentic. It's one of those pieces of entertainment where an episode ends and you can't believe an hour has gone by.
Of the 'Lord of the Rings' books, they say people are divided into two groups: those that have read them and those that haven't. You could well say that of the TV presentation of Jewel in the Crown. If you have never seen it, do yourself a favour and beg, borrow, or steal (only joking about the last one) a copy, forget about the rubbish on TV, and settle down to a few evenings of first-class entertainment!
